There’s a web site called Vintage Portland that is dedicated to presenting historical images of Portland from various sources in one place. It’s just pictures and maps without a lot of explanation or pontificating. There’s not much to say except this photo is SW Portland circa 1965. Two kids bombing a hill on clay wheels. Awesome. Grover says they’ll be working on adding a new capsule to Burnside on Tuesday. That’s a pretty major facelift. There’s few GVK shots after the jump.

All ages benefit show, 8pm tonight the Atristery (4315 SE Division St, Portland, OR) featuring White Fang, Gepetto, Oak Rot and Moth Dust. Door open 7:30pm. Show starts at 8pm. $5-10 suggested donation. If you decide you absolutely have to move obstacles outside of the confines of Brooklyn Street (see above left) – please put it back when you leave. It looks like a blast, but it will not help with public relations and the neighbors.

The Portland premier of the Power Riders Wheels video titled Plug in Tune Out is Saturday 18th @ 9 pm, at the A&L Sports Bar at 60th and Glisan. $5 dollars at the door goes to help rebuild the Scott barn that recently burned down. Trailer after the jump.

I’m freely admitting to filling space here. Some of the things purchased with recent fundraising efforst include sand, gravel a generator, and of course concrete. They’ve got a plan. Make one of these in your neighborhood.

Hey wow, I’ve got a tone of photos from the 2009 leg of Pier Park that I never put up. I had the second page almost ready to go with a third one in progress. I combined them, did some minor clean up, forget about any names, no time, no memory. Is the Oregon Trifecta still on for 2010? The official web site looks like the internet equivalent of an abandoned house, but I thought I heard Choppy on the mic during the best trick contest at the Dew Tour. I talked to Don Bostick and he said it was still on. I mentioned the abandoned web property and he mumbled something about Choppy having fundraising problems. I have to paint my house this weekend. Going over the mouse hole in Pier Park is pretty gnarly. Andy Macdonald made it over in his first try this year, I assume he made it over last year too. Andy took some video with a helmet cam for those of us who will likely never see the view from up there. Once you get to the point where it’s no sweat to make it over frontside or backside, what else is there? How about this frontside boardslide over the top? Portland Parks and Rec does a summertime happy good time event where they play movies after dark in public parks.This Friday (the 13!) at Glenhaven park in Portland, next to the skatepark. They have one of those big inflatable movie screens, on which they will be showing Deathbowl to Downtown. See how many times you can see my name misspelled in the credits. I contributed the skateboard commercial footage. Ouch. I just broke my arm trying to pat myself on the back.

It stands for Brooklyn Street Skate Spot Shots, what else? Super funs spot. Easy to ride, but the tech guys can get all techy if they want. There is no drama with opposing build crews, just a miscommunication is all. On Saturday they raised over $150 bucks. I’m lobbying for a runway on the other side of the volcano so goofy footers can hit it frontside easier. Fun for all ages. Way to go guys.
