AT&T Supports Soccer and Posing
At&T started running this commercial in late 2024, I just saw it on TV earlier this week and realized I never posted it. The This Is How We Soccer ad is about how AT&T supports soccer fans of all types, those who watch religiously, and those who “wear the jersey just for style club” AKA the posers! They’re standing in the middle of the flat taking selfies! Is that better or worse than using RC cars in the skate park? It’s fitting they chose A Seattle Sounders kit for one of the actors, total plastic fan base. SHOTS FIRED! It also features former US Women’s team legend Mia Hamm. Skate and Annoy: Your portal for all skateboarding and soccer crossovers. Shot at Channel Street, let’s hope San Pedro Skatepark Association got some dough for this. – Thanks to Bobcat for being the official unpaid S&A fact checker..
Diego Chara With Longboard
The hardest working man in MLS, Diego Chara must have been gifted a custom longboard made by a fan. The picture on the right shows him standing next to another Portland Timbers legend and former player Dairon Asprilla, who was in town celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Timbers. The photo was taken as he was entering the stadium for the match against Minnesota on July 7th. Amazingly, Chara is 39 and still playing. His last start was on July 30th in a 4-0 win against Mexican side Atlético de San Luis. If you’re keeping track, this is the 11th MLS related post here on Skate and Annoy, your hub for skateboarding and Major League Soccer.
LAFC Tifo
I’m what is known as a hater. I hate this club and I hate their supporters group. Here’s a Suicidal Tendencies themed tifo for their 2024 season opener against the Seattle Sounders (who I also hate). All I wanted was a supporters group with some history, but you wouldn’t give it to me… Skate and Annoy is your go-to resource for Major League Soccer and skateboarding.
Club De Football Est Ennuyeux
This new kit design is just about as boring as the decision to change the name of the Montreal Impact to Club de Foot Montréal. Even the skateboarder in the corner is bored.
Austin FC, Adidas Skateboarding, and No Comply Go Full Kit Wanker
As part of my continued effort to place Skate and Annoy among the world’s most prominent Skateboarding/MLS crossover sites I present to you this collab between No Comply skateshop and Austin FC. I got beefs. The green looks immature and cheap, especially compared to more pleasing greens with that have a storied history. Second of all, this is essentially a uniform, and you know how much skateboarders love a good uniform…
Local skateboard hero spotted on TV
This is not going to be a trend here… or maybe it is. This rad dude with a bitichin’ ‘tude was spotted on TV during an MLS match between Sporting Kansas City and LAFC. Soccer and Skateboarding crossovers are the sport of the future. He looks like Clint Dempsey.
It’s Messi World
HUGE NEWS that Lionel Messi is coming to MLS and joining Miami FC. How huge is it? Even the skateboarding sites are talking about it. OK, this one is at least. How bizarre is it that the world’s most famous sport celebrity is wearing a skateboard related shirt on TV during an interview? Well it turns out it’s a lot less bizarre than I thought, now that I’ve learned it’s a Louis Vuitton shirt that somehow slipped under the S&A radar. Let’s talk about how bizarre that is… Louis Vuitton designers capitalizing on a Tony Hawk / Berrics bit. I don’t know how much it cost when it was released but you can buy them on the collector’s market for around $1,500, or $20 on the knockoff market. Am I missing something? is there a reason they used the Icee bear typeface? Make your own if you want.
English Soccer Player You’ve Never Heard of Wears Nike SB Cap
Why yes, that is Jack Barmby of the mighty Portland Timbers rockin’ a Nike SB hat for some reason. It’s not the flopping that soccer critics hate, it’s the posing. This is Portland Timbers related post #6 for those keeping score at home.
Timbers Army Jacket
Tomorrow is opening day for the Portland Timbers MLS team. This jacket is sold only to members of the 107ist, the official organizing group behind the larger, much looser supporters group known as the Timbers Army. Normally I’d likely pass on posting another Powell Ripper appropriation, but this one manages to tie together 2 of my passions in an unlikely fashion, skateboarding and the Portland Timbers. This is the actually the fourth Timbers post on S&A, none of them gratuitous, including one from before the team was in the MLS. (If you’re keeping track: 1, 2, 3 ) PTFC! RCTID!
Team sports
Thrasher t-shirt spotted in the stands during yesterday’s broadcast of the Portland Timbers at the San Jose Earthquakes. Soccer! Rodney Wallace!
