Jeans West
Here’s an old 70’s commercial for a company called Jeans West. I couldn’t find any information about Jeans West, other than a current company in Australia. I’m not sure they are related. I did find this on Skatecuriosidade that said it was an Italian company and the commercial dates back to 1977. And speaking of Skatecuriosidade, notice how I gave you guys credit and a link? They’ve been poaching images from S&A for long time with nary a web link. Come guys, get with the program and be a good netizen.
Lucky Fellows
As found on the Fellows page of the Civitella Ranieri Foundation, whose mission is to “bring together visual artists, writers and musicians from around the world who demonstrate exceptional talent and an enduring commitment to their disciplines.” There is no accompanying information about the location. The foundation’s headquarters is in New York, but the residency is located in Italy. It almost looks like you can see some wheel marks on those transitions. Too bad they are sitting on grass. Stupid art… – Thanks to Skate D for the tip.
SOTW 5-24-10: Sicily
This week’s Shot of the Week is from Helmut at Surfside-Boardshop in Palermo, Italy. His friend Alessandro wrote: In Sicily the guys have discovered a huge estate seized to an arrested mafia boss, the fact is that this estate has got something in between a ditch and a pool, and they step in there to skate it, i find this very rad, the action is not out of danger, it could actually always come some affiliates to get them under stress, or maybe no, this nobody knows, the cool thing is that the place is quite hidden so is not easy to find… It’s vaguely reminiscent of the Tea Bowls. Check out the Shot of the Week then see some extras after the jump.
Lucky bastards
Some architects help turn an old theater into a flagship store for an Italian clothing brand called Bastard. Those bastards have a skate team and and a ridiculously cool bowl suspended above the main interior of the store. I’ve never heard of these Italian bastards, but they must have a lot of money, and they are making me channel George Costanza. You can see some before and after views at Arch Daily and some construction photos at ARPlus.com Mark found out about these bastards over at The World’s Best Ever. Watch some bastard skating after the jump.
