McMiniramp
This one goes out to Colin. A German commercial for McDonalds. [Source: Buzzfeed] – Thanks to Andrew Wahl for the tip.
Bavarian Creme Part 2
Wunseidelramp turned out to be a hot topic last time around. Thanks to Martin for kicking down some photos and a video of the finished project, as well as a couple more construction photos to stir the pot again.
Bavarian Creme
The Wunseidelramp (not to be confused with rampenbed) is soon to be 55ft (looks bigger than that) of miniramp fun in Kirchenlamitz, in north of Bavaria, Germany. The opening party is tentatively set at November 5th, 2011. Photos and semi-unrelated Bavarian miniramp video after the jump. – Thanks Martin for the photos.
Blackriver Bowl, Bavaria
You may remember Blackriver as associated with expensive fingerboard trucks, but they skate life sized terrain as well in Bavaria. (Now it make sense that $75 fingerboard trucks come from the land of BMW.) Photo sets on Flickr, or catch some vid after the jump. – Thanks to Martin Ehrenberger for the tip.
Time Lapse Theater: OMSA Bowl
Mixing it up a little in Time Lapse Theater. This week we have the factory bowl wooden pool replica courtesy of Dietches at OMSA. Somewhere in Germany.
Skateboard, Uh ah ah.
Die Skateboard-Welle war schon eine Weile in Deutschland angekommen, als man dem Thema einen deutschen Song gab. In the 70’s there was a German teeny bopper who had some sort of hit song called Skateboard, Uh ah ah. At some point recently he tried to mount a comeback which involved rereleasing the song with new, updated mixes. There’s not much info out there that’s easy to find on this Benny character. For example, iTunes seems to have him confused with a Mexican perfomer of the same name. – Thanks to Spencer Montgomery for the tip. [Source: Skate in the Ramp]
New Bailgun and Born Ugly
Two B-zines on the A-list. Born Ugly hits issue 7. Iove this zine/scene. too much metal for my personal tastes but the fun is so pervasive that I’m ready to roll with it, if not Rawk and Roll with it. Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the globe, Bailgun hits issue #11, and it’s a phucking phat 114 pages. Definitely not your average slapped together affair, although you’ll need to get your German on to read some of it. If you can’t score a print issue, both of these are available for reading online.
Architects design skatepark that isn’t street plaza
Not entirely true. There’s supposed to be a street plaza and (shudder to think) vert ramp too, but it looks like the only part that isn’t just a CAD file at this point in time is this bowl complex. Germany’s MBA/S Associates designed this park that resides in Stuttgart. They even feature it on the front page of their web site. [Source: Freshness] – Thanks to Ryan for the tip
Bobsled track downhill
I’ve often wondered what it would be like to ride a skateboard on a bobsled track. I always assumed it would be too fast to contain it, but that was before I contemplated what the surface was. Danny Strasser doesn’t have to wonder. He’s hit a bunch of tracks all over Europe. I wonder if these are sanctioned runs or barge sessions. I imagine after recent sad events these tracks might be harder and harder to get onto with four wheels. – Thanks to Jesus Crust for the tip.
It’s long Deutschland Uber Ollies
Benni Dittrich from Hemer/Germany blasted this crazy Ollie in a session in the Rheinpark Duisburg! The unofficial world record is made by Kris Markovich at the LG World longest Ollie Contest in 2003. Kris ollied 16 Feet and 5 inches. The distance between the stairs Benni ollied is 16 Feet and 5,1 inch (5 Meter) and he is landing way behind. Is this the new record? Is this a world’s record? I don’t know, don’t really care, but it’s good and long. – Thanks to Andreas Scheitel for the tip. UPDATE: I can’t believe I missed the obvious pun. I’ve remedied the post title. Tip of the hat to Jake and Annoy!
