Friday T&A on S&A: Alphonso Rawls and Janet Jackson
Ben Cannard sent in some pics of his old Alphonso Rawls model on Evol, that features Janet Jackson. There is some confusion about this on the Interwebs™. Some people remember it alternately as a Droors ad or a Fuct advertisement. I don’t remember it at all, which would place it in the early 90’s. I find it hard to believe that it’s not photoshopped. I guess Janet Jackson was slumming it trying to get some street cred out of skateboarding. If I’ve got the story wrong, by all means fill me in. I plead ignorance.
Camptown ladies sing this song, Doodah
From the sketchy free online translation, I gather that fashion photographers Claudia Knoepfel and Stefan Indlekofer shot some supermodels (that I don’t recognize…) for a series of skateboards put out by Swiss skateshop Doodah. By the way, this is Friday T&A on S&A.
Frida T&A on S&A: Control and Vivid Girls
Canadian manufacturer Control Skateboards has licensed the likenesses of adult film actresses from Vivid Videos. The series includes Vivid Girls (L-R) Sunny Leone, Nikki Jayne, Hanna Hilton and Meggan Mallone . It’s supposed to be a limited edition run, but they are priced like normal boards. In fact, they appear to be on a bit of a closeout in some locations. I wonder if they aren’t selling as well because Control doesn’t have the same distribution as the bigger brands. [Source: Tacky]
Friday T&A on S&A
No word on what/who/why this is. I found it over on Ghettopool Ripper, under the label “goddesses of skateboarding.” The extended link over there appears to be dead. I guess some things don’t need an explanation? UPDATE: It’s a series by fashion photographer known as Chenman. Navigate to Work>Artwork>Beijing skateboard or just go here. Friday T&A on S&A: Trick Tips from Versus
We got a page of trick tips from Versus Magazine. It’s all very NSFW, as you can see from the example above. Who knew a skate zine could have Playmates? Skate and Mate did, actually. I’m sure you can guess what the Stale Fish grab looks like. If you can’t, head on over to the Versus archives and find issue #28.
Friday T&A on S&A: Oh Ramona – Pinups and Vert
Check out Thrasher’s Rumble in Ramona recap for a liberal dose of scantily clad gals reliving the golden age of pinups and vert skating. That looks like Mark Scott getting in on the “photography club” action.
Friday T&A on S&A: The Dwarves
The album may be from 1997, but that board is pure 1988. I’ve never heard the Dwarves, but they have quite a reputation. You can see the album cover for The Dwarves are Young & Good Looking wherever the CD is sold, or visit the official Dwarves web site. Nash pasties added to keep us work/school safe.
Friday T&A on S&A: The pool boy
GVK found this gem: During my endless search for good skate videos from my era, I ran across the dream video and job. This actually happened to a friend of mine and yours try and guess who. The guy in the video is a better skater than him. Who could it be? We can’t host adult content on our site, not that I’d really care to anyway. The good part, or at least the part that relates to skateboarding is excerpted and safe for work. There’s some great, uh, dialogue in the movie, and it’s clear that while the male lead may be Woody Harrelson’s developmentally challenged, mongo pushing younger brother, he does skate, or at least used to at some point.
Friday T&A on S&A: Zoo York and Macy’s
We mentioned this limited edition Jenna Jameson board by Zoo York before, but the board wasn’t actually out yet. It appears to have been released, which is a good excuse to mention that I walked into a Portland area Macy’s a week ago and was surprised to see a large portion of the floor had been allocated to a big display of Zoo York clothing which I found odd, but then didn’t considering it’s much more acceptable in hip hop culture to infiltrate higher end retail shops, as opposed to Shaun White having his own line in Target. While I appreciated the original Zoo York movement detailed in the Deathbowl to Downtown documentary, those roots seem far removed from the current incarnation, as if related in name and location only. In any case, everyone should print out copy of the deck and run down to the nearest Macy’s and ask them when they are going to get the Jenna Jameson board. [Photo: Sakteboard – miniroom549 on Flickr]
Friday T&A on S&A: Daniel Gesmer
Daniel Gesmer on Facebook. Now where did I put my skateboard? UPDATE: We’ve removed the photo due to the copyright restrictions of the photographer.
