Bonus young guns
Here’s a couple extra shots of 12 year old Bend ripper Jake Selover. Enjoy.
Young guns from Bend
Scott Selover sent in a bunch of pics of some young rippers from Bend, Or. One of them is is son Jake. The other is his friend Dru. Here’s two from Pier Park. These kids are 12 years old. I guess there is a vert scene in Bend. I hear rumors about a 11 foot vert ramp. Did you hear about the 19 year old who landed the 900 at Maloof? These kids have a few years to go…
Exclusive: Exposé on famous Northwest skatepark builders
The time lapse movie of Conahan’s bowl pour was a big hit, and if you like that, you’ll love this secret, behind the scenes video of one of the world’s most famous skatepark crews in action, obtained by covert actions at Skate and Annoy. Sure, we’re going to really piss some people off, and we may be alienating ourselves from the entire Northwest, if not U.S. D.I.Y. skate community, but we feel it’s worth it to bring the truth to our readers. Explore the myth vs. reality, fact vs. fiction, as we blow the lid off “the great” skatepark builders of the Northwest and this secret project. Sit back and enjoy. – Thanks to Sarib Khalsa for the tip.
Steve Caballero wants you…
…to vote for his entry in this Vans logo contest. If he wins, he promises to donate his $5000 prize to a children’s orphanage in Ghanna, Africa. Hang on, aren’t all orphanages for children? I can’t verify that he actually sent me the email, so maybe I’m the victim of an Internet hoax… In any case, here’s the link, click in the little box next to Steve’s name to vote for him.
I left my heart in San Francisco…
…and my camera bag in Lincoln City, for crying out loud. Now I have to drive back in the morning and go get it. I was camping there since Friday. At the camp site there were no less than five kids on skateboards being towed around the camp site behind bicycles, three of them on longboards. Thanks to everyone who ordered a shirt, I will be packing them up to ship out on Wednesday. And now back to regularly scheduled programming, thanks to Carl Warren who does not live in Hood River. Another installment of Skateboard Action. Dig the U-shaped slide.
Skateboard Action from Steve Hawk
Courtesy of Hood River’s own Carl Warren. His brother recently gave him this 1987 book written by Steve Hawk (Yes, he is.) with the stickers intact. Check out the wrap around rails on that Staab. More pages after the jump.

Help repeal pad laws in California
We love to help out our less fortunate neighbors in such skateboard repressive states as, uh, California? From the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC): As many of you know, IASC has been working tirelessly for many years to change the laws affecting California’s public skateparks. We were previously able to extend the bill which protects public skateparks, but in doing so, had to make some concessions in the bill. Recently IASC has been working to remove the outdated clause under which skateparks must require elbow and knee pads to be worn while skating in public skateparks. That’s right, according to state law, you must wear elbow and knee pads at public skateparks. I know thi law isn’t enforced everywhere, but it still needs to go. Apparently the repeal has passed the State Assembly 76-0, which is stellar news, but it still has to pass through the senate. If you live in California and want to find out how how to help the effort, visit the IASC site for details. However, If you want some super stylish kneepads, check out these licensed Speed Racer knee pads with clear caps that double as Speed’s visor. Pretty cool actually, especially in combination…
