The dangers of getting stoked
Still funny after all these years. The Onion takes a serious look at the dangers of getting stoked. Turn volume down if you’re at work. [Source: EPM]
Fingerboarding is not a crime
Sure, we tease them about their $75 trucks and fingerpants, but deep down we’re still brothers. At first I thought this was an item we’d already posted, but this application of stickers in a sink is not for marketing purposes. It’s just clever for it’s own sake. Now someone just needs to invent fingerskatestoppers. – Thanks to Eric Cherry for the tip. [Source: 9GAG via Flickr User Laser Bread]
The agony of defeat.
It went bang. I said shut up. You must enlarge-o-rama to see all the drama.
Crisis of Conformity
Speaking of Dave Grohl, here’s a video featuring Mr Grohl from last weekend’s appearance on Saturday Night Live. The bit is the father of the bride getting his old 80’s band back together to play one song at his daughter’s wedding reception. Turns out his old band was hardcore. The premise is not too far off from McGill’s latest commercial and MC’s comic. Fairly decent 80’s era hardcore imitation. Good band name too. Somewhere out there somebody in awe that SNL used thier band name in a skit. There’s got to have been a real “Crisis of Conformity” at some point. SNL on SNA. Check it out after the jump.
Friday T&A on S&A: Hot and Saucy Pizza Girls
The adult film Hot and Saucy Pizza Girls from 1979 appears to have at least four skateboarding scenes. I haven’t been able to find a copy online for less than $17, and I’m not prepared to shell out that much to find out. Some VHS copies are going for $30! Desiree Cousteau is billed as the female lead, and she coincidentally starred in Female Athletes too. Pizza Girls gets good “reviews” for attempted plot and comedy, although I suspect there was one good review and everyone just paraphrases it. Tune in after the jump for a PG-13 trailer that is still NSFW if you have the audio track loud at the end. There’s also a link to an entirely NSFW trailer. Both trailers have hot and spicy skateboard action. – Thanks to BrockEs for the tip.
Waste not, want not
When your friends get back into skating, it’s best to cut them some slack. One child’s doll suitcase is another parent’s pink pad suitcase. All hail Gordo!
Compare and contrast: World’s two best fingerboard videos
One of these two videos will appeal to you whether you hate fingerboards or love them. In any case, I firmly stand by my statement. These are in fact the two examples of the highest art form in you could hope to achieve if you are going to make a fingerboarding video. Both these videos are old actually. Been sitting on them for over a year. And now I’m going to blow… your… MINDS!
GVK #53: Halloween at Burnside 2009
So I did not have a lot of time to shoot footage for Halloween plus you are always so distracted by the Show. I did see a lot of good stuff that did not make it to the camera. The weather was great, awesome turn out. There is a sort of weird good family vibe at that Burnside Banks. I feel like if my kid got lost people would try to help him feel okay and get him help. Just to set the mode when I pulled up Red had the music so loud it almost hurt you ears and the song was the song from the bar scene in star wars where Luke and OB-1 meet Han Solo. Who would of thought that could hurt your ears. If you didn’t make you missed it. – Skate Off, Grover. P.S. Some of you may have seen this already, I put this together last week and got tired of waiting for Kilwag to get his site running again – See this video.
Thinking about rollerblading?
Someone on Madison Avenue is earning their paycheck. What are the odds of a skateboard blog picking up and posting something only marginally sideways related? I was skeptical when I got the email, but this Dos Equis commercial featuring “the most interesting man in the world; On rollerblading” actually made me snort. I need to learn how and when to use semicolons. Just say “Dos Equis.” – Thanks to Ash for the tip.
There are other scenes…
There are other scenes… that are so far away physically and mentally from what you are into. But then somehow they seem like a puzzle piece with a weird shape to it that you’ve been missing for years. Maybe this makes sense to Marek, or maybe I’m having an acid flashback. I think I’m going to take off my clothes and run through the woods now. – Thanks to Set Grossman for the tip UPDATE: I couldn’t understand why nobody had anything to say about this! I fixed the funkiness that was causing the page to fail. A little heads up would have been nice!
