Drop Into Hot Wheels Skate with Tony Hawk
This is less than brand new, but I just had fingerboard fatigue, or maybe it was Tony Hawk fatigue, or maybe it was both. Mattel is selling fingerboards, and although they don’t appear to be branded as a Tony Hawk product he appears in a commercial and theHawk name is sprinkled on the products in a sort of innocuous manner. It almost like they are trying to downplay it, which makes no sense unless they are only hoping for an initial boost and don’t want to have to keep paying him down the road. A big point of sale on these is the inclusion of shoes for your finger, which itself is not new if you remember Mattel’s Real Men series from the 80’s. Hang on… why cant I find a link for that on S&A? I actually have one them… I can’t believe I haven’t posted that yet…
Get in the Pink Van
The Pink Panther skateboard van was one of three Pink Panther vans that came out in 1982. I don’t know who manufactured these, I just know they are too expensive fro my budget. Somewhere in my infamous basement is a plastic figure of the Pink Panther on a skateboard which I guess I haven’t posted yet because it doesn’t turn up in a search. I loved the pink Panther as a kid, but the relaunched version leaves me cold. Kind of like the lame sticker on the side of this die cast car. It should have been a pad print directly on the metal.
Majorette Skate Board van
Majorette die cast cars are like the red headed step child of die cast cars compared to Hot Wheels and especially Johnny Lightning. Even Matchbox cars are kind of crappy, but at least they roll better than Racing Champions. Is Corgi even around anymore? Those things were insanely expensive. Majorette has some less common car models compared to the majors, maybe that’s because they’re from France. The shells are sometimes cool, but they’ve always been kind of chintzy, and now that they’re made in Thailand they’re pretty much relegated to the pile s of overpriced junk destined for the short toy ailses of Walgreens. I have no idea when this Majorette Skate Board van was made, but it looks very 80’s to me. The bottom has no information on it other than some manufacturing nonsense like “ECH 1/65” and “FOURGON 279/234,” whatever that means. The whole thing cost me a little over $5 with shipping, and it came all the way form the U.K.. The guy who sold it had to have lost money by the time he posted it, especially if you take the time into account. Maybe he’s got a trained monkey doing his eBay listings.
