Department of Skateboarding bowl sale
Usually you go to a department store to buy something instead of buying the Dept on Craigslist. Skateboarders need a place to skate, and in that place they need this bowl! The Department of Skateboarding has left their space in NE PDX to open up shop in a new location. Please help us find a home for this iconic piece of Portland skate history. We have a quote from a demo company that can assist in deconstruction, moving and reassembly for a fee. Price is negotiable. Bowl Details: – 6′ and 8′ deep sections – 50′ x 60′ footprint with surrounding raised deck area – Fully wood framed with plywood decking and OSB face – Tiled top edge underneath the coping – Thanks to Colin for the tip.
Dept shutting doors on Monday – Free sessions all weekend The Dept is CLOSED
Here’s the skinny, Everything , including the bowl is still there. All sessions free this weekend. Now’s the time to nail down that move you’ve always wanted, so enjoy it while you can. This is an end of an era for Portland skaters. There will be no digging it out in 20 years. CLOSED FOR GOOD ON AUGUST 16th. UPDATE: It’s all over. Thanks for the memories.
Running out of time
The Gatorade Free Flow Tour hits the Department this Saturday July 10th. Get some before it shuts down. The Department, not the contest series. The Alliance of Action Sports puts on this tour and the Dew Tour. I saw some of the Dew Tour on TV the other day under the program name of “Action Sports.” More interesting is the fact that they aired a commercial for their online store. I don’t know if they are carrying their own inventory and doing their own fulfillment or… hold on. I just called the 800 number, and once I got past the corporate phone tree messages, the person that answered said they were from StandardBoardShop.com.
St Valentine’s Day Massacre
The Dept. will be hosting the ST. VALENTINE’S DAY MASSACRE Contest Sunday Feb. 14th. Mike and Justin over at Shrunken Head Skateboards are the masterminds behind this unique event that promises to be a departure from any contest you’ve experienced in the past. All your favorites in LOCAL PORTLAND SKATEBOARDING will be representing. Face it, you more than likely don’t have a valentine so there should be no good reason you don’t check this out. For more info hit up those guys at shrunkenheadskateboards.com. Well shave our heads bald and put on a yellow t-shirt with a crooked black stripe. We feel like Charlie Brown becasue we weren’t even invited.
