Windows Nokia Timeshift
When I first watched this video I thought was one of those acid tracer scenes where the same sequence is repeated with a start time a few frames later, over and over again, but it’s actually multiple sequences composited together. It’s pretty impressive, and it ought to be considering the spent over 480 man hours on the editing alone, not to mention shooting the original sequences. It’s pretty flawless except for the 47 second mark where a skateboarder (Cory Juneau) appears out of thin air without dropping into the bowl. The behind the scenes video is pretty interesting too, despite the severe levelness of the director’s voiceover. He’s so stiff and awkward, especially when trying to sell the Nokia Lumia 930. It’s almost comical, considering Windows Phone’s faltering performance in the market. True story: I was at a BBQ the summer with a bunch of Microsoft employees. As an Apple fanboy it was interesting to hear the shop talk. When they started talking about the phone platform it was as if someone let all the air out of the conversation. Guys who can basically get Windows phones for free were giving up on them, with no foreseeable relief in the…
Shortest product lifecycle ever!
This is a detail from an advert for the Sony Xperia Ion phone. It’s from the August 2012 edition of Wired Magazine, but the URL is already bad and there doesn’t appear to be an Ion in the Xperia lineup anymore. Shortest product lifecycle ever!
Nokia push
Nokia Push… really hard to tell from the web site what the hell they are actually talking about. They keep talking about hacks in a proprietary context that must only maker sense if you already own the phone. They’ve got two “prototypes” for hacks, one of which looks like it makes use of motion sensing capabilities in the phone in order to score points in a game while actually skateboarding. It’s a weak execution of a not so new concept, but I give them this, the commercial is highly reminiscent of the Paper Boy arcade game and amusing to watch. [Source: Skatecuriosidade]
Billboarding is not a crime.
Spotted somewhere in eastern Oregon during the post inaugural voyage of Grover’s new video camera. I hear there’s a new GVK around the, uh, corner. Enlarge-o-rama. Oh yeah, for the sake of the search engines. This is a billboard with a skateboard, advertising U.S. Cellular 3G coverage. It looks like they were kind of going for a retro look withthe board style, white pants and blue boat shoes, but the effect is kind of ruined by the modern cars in the background. I apologize for the lame post title.
Sneaky Nokia ad features skateboarding.
More viral advertising featuring skateboarding. This one in a commercial from Nokia, masquerading as a company called Great Pockets. The joke being that you could buy custom tailored clothing with huge pockets to carry all your electronic gear, or of course you could just ditch all that gear for the Nokia N95 phone. Watch this kid try to skateboard while leaving a trail of battered consumer electronics after the jump.
