I can’t make a simple post to save my life. This was going to a bundle about handful of crappy vintage computer games that weren’t interesting enough merit their own post. Curiosity killed my free time, and so here we are. In 1988 a 16 year old kid named James Closs programmed a crappy skateboard computer game for the Sinclair Spectrum called Skateboard Joust. He sold it to a publisher and made enough money to buy a car and have some cash during college. James had never stepped foot on a skateboard at the time, or actually played the game Joust. By his own admission the game wasn’t very good, and that always bothered him. 32 years later he released the sequel, Jetboard Joust on the Steam platform in 2020.

It turns out that The Turf isn’t the only legendary 70’s skatepark being dug up. There’s another park in Glasgow, Scotland known as Kelvin Wheelies (more on that name later) that is scheduled to be unearthed. The BBC reports that Scotland’s first skatepark is going to be dug up by archaeologist, to what end? Even they aren’t sure.

The Adventures of Willy Beamish is a classic point and click game developed by Dynamix and published by Sierra On-Line in 1991. From the game box, advertisements and splash screen you might think that skateboarding figures heavily in the storyline. I’ve scrubbed through hours of gameplay and I only found a few sequences. The frog is more important to the storyline, but that didn’t stop me from wasting a good chunk of time on this post. Besides, it’s been a while since I’ve made a vintage video game post.

NHS has never met a collab they didn’t like, and this time it’s with the golf brand Malbon. (Insert obligatory Schwing Magazine reference.) See modified versions of Jim Phillips legendary artwork on golf gloves, golf bags, t-shirts and hoodies. Three putting is not crime? Maybe they are overpriced because it’s golf gear and it appeals to a wealthier audience, maybe it’s because it a collab. Why am I such an Unhappy Madison? Maybe I’m just jealous because nobody ever approaches Skate and Annoy for a collab. Maybe I’m just upset because I have a different sports crossover fetish.

Quite a while back Colin at Unheard sent me pic of this felt dragon on skateboard that he saw at Powells Books. If he told me what the label said I’d link to the producer. Maybe I’ll remember to look for it the next time I visit Powell’s. Is this a toy or an X-mas ornament? You tell me. (Please do, actually.)

The Tangerine Taco hates Sesame Street, but Sesame Street carries on. This is Oscar the Grouch’s pet worm Slimey on tour in social media posts traveling the world. At&T started running this commercial in late 2024, I just saw it on TV earlier this week and realized I never posted it. The This Is How We Soccer ad is about how AT&T supports soccer fans of all types, those who watch religiously, and those who “wear the jersey just for style club” AKA the posers! They’re standing in the middle of the flat taking selfies! Is that better or worse than using RC cars in the skate park? It’s fitting they chose A Seattle Sounders kit for one of the actors, total plastic fan base. SHOTS FIRED! It also features former US Women’s team legend Mia Hamm. Skate and Annoy: Your portal for all skateboarding and soccer crossovers. The Portland Pickles are a collegiate summer baseball team that does a lot of funny promotions and events at the ballpark in the vein of a very scaled back Savannah Bananas. They also have a big, goofy mascot named Dillion who occasionally gets into some trouble. OnAugust 3rd they’re having “Dilly Hawk Pro Skater” night where you will get a chance to meet some pro skaters. I’m not sure what constitutes a pro skater these days, but interestingly one of the pros is Anita Sanford. If you’re of a certain age, you might remember her as Anita Tessensohn from her part in Powell-Peralta’s Public Domain, or her appearance in the Powell Prelate “Some Girls Play With Dolls” ad.

The Aquabats hanging out at Money Ruins Everything skate shop in Oklahoma City. What’s not to love? It’s hilarious that they appear to be out in public walking around in their Aquabats uniforms. It reminds me of seeing Rocket from the Crypt hanging out in matching jumpsuits that they all changed into after their gig. Can we get that TV show back on the air please?

Brooks Brothers posted this image on social media promoting the “classic collegiate style, updated for that fresh-season mindset.” This ad really hit home for me. I basically dropped out of college the first time I went, mostly because of skateboarding. Maybe if I had dressed in luxury clothing and worn those shoes I could have made something of myself instead of leaving behind a legacy of a skateboarding website that I populate purely for my own amusement.
