Skate and Annoy: Daily
SOTW: 10-29-07
This week’s shot comes courtesy of Davoud at Concussion. If this Royce Nelson crail at a San Pablo pool looks familiar, it’s because it also ran printed in Low Card. But hey, it’s in color here. Check out the the un-cropped version here.
MC PP
These days with the time change and bad weather right around the corner, I’m more worried about skating than snapping pics, hence this shot of Mark Conahan airing across the mouse hole at Pier Park. Good weather, good session lads. Click to enlarge.
Skater Dater exerpt on You Tube
I have posted about SkaterDater before. This guy has a chunk of it posted on YouTube. Man, I keep saying we need to get matching windbreakers.
Make hay while the sun shines
No doubt Tigard will be super crowded again this weekend. Check out this session from last Monday. The weather continues charming. Above: Joesf Heffner airs the big wall. A little ABC rhyme after the jump.
Know your rights: Free Tigard
We are now accepting donations for the “Know your rights” outreach program for the users of the new Tigard Skate park, whose posted rules state that anybody that remains in the skatepark consents to having their personal belongings searched. This money will go towards having stickers printed up that will be given away to riders entering the Tigard Skate Park. The more money we collect, the more stickers (or larger stickers) we can make. If you’re up for helping, the suggested donation is $5. Details after the jump. UPDATE: RESCINDED! They took rule#3 off the sign!!!!! DETAILS
Its A Bowl!
Here’s the latest news from the windy, and very cold Columbia River Gorge skate scene. A backhoe broke ground one week ago on the new bowl. Mark and Graham are both diligently getting it done by working the landscape into submission and laying out the design. Now for those of you that need to see it from the horses mouth you can watch a video of Graham explaining it after the jump.
Rich Griswold’s deck paintings
Old School Skateboarding has a gallery of decks painted by Rich Griswold. He hand paints details from classic board graphics and has a really good design sense. His MySpace page has more skate stuff and more photos of the boards. Somebody give the guy some pointers on documenting his art.
Drunk? Yes, but was he wearing a helmet?
An Australian man got a ticket for drunken skateboarding: Australia: 22-year-old Carey Mitchell Symes has been fined $300 after pleading guilty to drink-driving. Symes had been weaving across lanes at speed and going through traffic lights on a skateboard while holding a can of rum. When police stopped him his blood-alcohol content was .095. He reportedly told officers he was riding a skateboard because he was too drunk to drive. The magistrate recorded a conviction but did not suspend his licence. If this had happened in the states, I would have used Barney Gumble to illustrate it, but as it happened in Australia, Andy Capp was the closest geographical lovable drunk figure I could come up with. You may have seen his pub snacks too. While searching for an appropriately buzzed picture of Andy, I came across a Vitners Chips bag with a skateboarding mascot. Visible after the jump.
