Skate and Annoy: Daily
Friday T&A on S&A: Pornstar Skateboards
Well it’s an idea we’ve seen before, so why no build a whole brand around it? Here’s a video of the Pornstar Skateboards “factory” which you have to swallow with a grain of salt. Anyone recognize the actual factory? Watch as actress Sarah Jesse causes an awkward moment for a hapless worker who just wants her to be comfortable. Do you need a date? Sarah is available (NSFW!!) to help you “relax, unwind, and experience a range of ‘sensual delights'”. Business must be slow at Pornstar. The web site is a little bit like a ghost town. – Thanks to Quartersnacks for the tip.
Dew Tour pushing Portland
So… an “unlocked spot” courtesy of the Dew Tour: We’ve unlocked a cool spot for all you Portland locals to skate next Wednesday 11am at the Pioneer Courthouse Square. There’s normally no skateboarding there, but we’re hooking it up for you guys. While I applaud the idea of lifting the ban, if only temporarily, I have to laugh at the suits at Pepsi “hooking me up.” Still, that’s a novel form of social/guerilla marketing. I wonder how much it cost to “hook us up?” ( Egads that’s awkward punctuation. Any English majors out there that can tell me what I did wrong? ) The photo on the bottom? That’s Spohn Ranch’s portable concrete bowl system being disassembled and loaded up for the trip to Portland. Grover is chomping at the bit to ride that thing. – Thanks to Craig Smith for the tip.
Hang one
I missed this one, got outbid early on and literally missed bidding again by one second. For your consideration we have listed a box of 60 original skateboard necklaces. These were a canadian product from 1976. You are buying and original display box with 60 individually packaged skateboard necklaces. New old stock from 35 years ago. A nice retro find. I have no idea what the actual necklaces look like, but the packaging is the best. I live for this kind of thing. Hang one?

So what happens when one company puts together a video for another one? Check out Merde Skateboards short but sweet video featuring a couple Cold War riders.
Best of Skate Fate
Holy Cow (skates) It’s the legendary GSD and his seminal zine Skate Fate. I’ll bet he hates being called legendary.GSD is celebrating the 30 (!) year anniversary of Skate Fate by releasing a 320 page best of volume, which you can pick up for a reasonable price at Blurb, except the shipping (fixed pirce from Blurb) is pretty steep. Anyone want to go in on a joint order? Press release and sample pages after the jump.
Boardworld
I envision a post apocalyptic future where gangs of longboarders maraud the outskirts of a dying civilization, raiding the unprepared and the weak, pillaging and plundering for the only currency left from the the modern world’s halcyon days, the recycled skateboard. Seriously, soon enough broken boards are going to become almost as valuable as a new board. Shwood makes sunglasses out of old skatebaords, something we’ve recently seen before, but this incarnation is constructed in a different manner. Shwood is out in the burbs of Portland, and fittingly, local filmer/photog Joe Stevens put together a video that shows the skateboard pre-demise, post-reincarnation and everything in between.
Skateable architecture, intentionally so!
Factory Youth Movement is a community center in Merida, Spain with skatepark facilities blending into the landscape architecture. Or from a different vantage point, skateable terrain nestling and nurturing the building it was designed for. Pipets loaded and ready. Petri dish courtesy of Selgas Cano. Factory Youth Movement, I ‘m pretty sure I used to have one of their 10″ extended dance singles. [Source: Simple Genius – Photos: Arch Daily] – Thanks to Betsy Gordon for the tip.
