Non aggressive
BLT Rollerblade Roller Skate Skateboard Deck Skatesomething..?? Non aggressive! Whatever this thing is, it’s in pretty good shape. I doubt it’s been “skated” much at all It’s Ebay, baby. What else would you expect? – Thanks to Matthijs for the tip.
The Pizza Deck
Not to be confused with Pizza Grip, (Man that stuff is gnarly), here are two skateboards in the shape of a slice of Pizza. The first is a graphic for an 2012 book signing event with Christian Hosoi at Pizzanista, which it turns out is partially owned by Salman Agah. On the right, an actual production board called the Slicer, this one from a NYC clothing company called The Good Company. My source for the Slicer was Pee Wee Herman’s Facebook feed.
Bummer, flat spot…
Nike SB is now one of the major sponsors of Street League Skateboarding. Next stop is Portland, Oregon this Sunday. Nike’s team put on a little demo yesterday at the world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. This morning this big skateboard was parked out back. A few shots of the event after the turn.
Stop stair-ing part 2
Just shy of a year after we first featured this stair roving skateboard, the creator is back with a Kickstarter project to help bring it the masses. It looks like he added some sort of weird stabilization bar linking the trucks together. I’m not sure what the addition is for, but I’m sure this makes an already heavy board more unwieldy and prone to rattling. You’ve got to admire his determination though, just don’t let him know the whole thing would be made moot by a set of soft oversized wheels. It may just be the Wheelie Board of this decade, something you’d never buy when it came out, but years later you’ll recall it fondly while trolling through some guy’s obsessive skateboarding web site. I’m goin got get on my Long Rider right after I start my own Kickstarter project to fund backing this kickstarter project so I can get a Stair Rover for the “museum.” I’m going to put it right next to the Tarantula Trucks. (Crap, I still owe that guy a review…)
Plastic but not fantastic
Anybody know what the deal is with these plastic boards? I see them on eBay every once and a while. At first I thought it was some off the shelf Santa Cruz stickers stuck on some new Chinese crap in order to pass it off as “old school.” I’ve seen construction like this before, and I want to say it’s a late 90’s phenomenon at the earliest. However, that sure does look like an old school truck mounting pattern. I give up. Are these bona fide NHS gear from a past era? Don’t get offended. All the major skateboard companies have done sketchy things in the past. Or in fact, are these the work of a con artist with a stack of stickers? Sa ka roulé has amassed a stack of photos of these injection molded mysteries.
If it ain’t fixed, don’t brake it
The Brake Board is about a year old, actually, and was to be made somewhere in the Seattle area. I can’t find a web site for it, so it may not have actually gone into production. It’s a Fred Flintstone simple idea. One that nobody is likely to want if they actually have a little skill or gumption. Still, I could see a bunch of Mom’s out there thinking it was a good idea for junior’s daily ride to school. I’m seeing more and more grade school kids skating to school on longboards these days, even in the rain, which would be “core” were it not for the fact that I also see kids in shorts and t-shirts in the rain too. You know, this board reminds me of something. – Thanks to Matthijs for the tip.
Archeological artifacts from New Zealand
Spotted on Frontside Grind “The home of old school Kiwi skating circa ’73-now!” This item, tentatively titled a Jetskate, is pretty obscure. – Thanks to OJ for the tip.
Shaggo skateboards
So… they are skateboards covered with shag carpeting. Not the most original idea, but someone’s got to do the work for the lazy people. I’m not sure about the wisdom in naming one of your vehicles “The Lemon.” That’s Shaggo Skateboards.
Friday T&A on S&A:
Fratboards = Douchebag Central
Skateboards made in the shape of fraternity paddles. From the standpoint of capitalism, it’s a great idea, they’ll probably sell a ton. The decks are just flat wood so it’s not like it takes any real skill to make them. You can get custom vinyl graphics with fantastic bullshit like “George Homophpobe – Big Brother.” Of course there are flasks and t-shirts. Great niche marketing though. Even if I had thought of it first, I don’t think I could bring myself to actually make and sell them. Their tagline is “Frat hard. Shred hard.” I can’t make this stuff up. Maybe if Fratboards had been around when I was in college my old man might have finally connected with me… [Source: The Daily Dickfoot]
Skateboards from recycled paper
Version 2 Lab doens’t have much of a web site, but they have put images and videos on Facebook. Of course, there’s a kickstarter in the works too, but it’s not live yet. They sure are shiny. 5 lbs of lacquer may offset the carbon footprint benefits of recycled paper. Check out their “Maco” board (after the jump or on Facebook) which is actually kind of cool, except shouldn’t it be called “Mako?” It’s odd actually, the only picture on the web site make them look crappy arts & crafts projects, while the extra photos on Facebook make them look like polished products. – Thanks to Jeff Barrett for the tip.
