The Skate and Annoy rebate

Fingers crossed: We’re back!

You may remember me, I’m the editor of Skate and Annoy. Since we’ve last talked, S&A has been through a couple of web hosting plans, and we’re finally online again. It’s been like a vacation, really. A vacation filled with angst, stress and despair. I got to Wally World and it was closed. Thanks for sticking with us. We’re on a hosting plan for wankers right now. Not actual wankers, you know, because that kind of bandwidth is expensive. We’re on a regular shared hosting account until the VPS gets sorted out. I got tired of waiting. OK, I got scared everyone would forget about Skate and Annoy. In a couple of weeks we’re moving to a beefy VPS. Don’t worry, the transition will be nearly seamless this time, and when we do switch over we will be rolling out a new look and some new features. I don’t have any new content for you today, I’ve been busy getting things working again, and there will likely be some glitches here and there. If you find some, please drop me an email to let me know what the problem is. In the meantime, while GVK was unable to help with…

We’re still here

I can’t believe the site has been up for almost 24 continuous hours. This Skatekeyboard is courtesy of Free Art & Technology, AKA F.A.T.. What better way to welcome S&A back to the land of the online living than with a thank you to Daddy Yo for the tip!

Part of the Facebook problem

That’s right. I’m part of the problem now. You know those annoying little virtual gifts you can send and receive via Facebook? They annoy me, and I used to refuse them whenever I received them. But then I started to think that I was possibly offending people by blowing off their harmless gestures. Then I started geeking out of them, trying to see what old boards I could unlock. We’ve all seen those boards though, so I started thinking there wasn’t much point to it, ultimately, except to engage in social interactions in cyberspcae. So I made my own gift app for sending pretend wacky skateboards to your pretend Interewbs friends and called it the Skate and Annoy Wackyboard. Right now there are forty wacky skateboards in the quiver, many of which haven’t been featured here yet. There’s more on the way if I can determine people actually want to use this thing. And so now, I am part of the problem and not the solution. Geek out.

WEB HOST ISSUES – SITE IS KOOKED!

We’re having web host issues, so the site is messed up right now. I’m not getting much help or information from my host right now, so I can’t tell you when it will be functioning again. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please bear with us. Well, we’re back. Unfortunately, I spent my time dealing with nonsense instead of making posts. S&A will be back up to speed again within 24 hours. That’s Tim Eberly overamping my photo framing abilities.

Please stand by

I stacked pretty hard to the flat at MC’s bowl earlier tonight (Wednesday) so I’m self medicating instead of compiling Thursday’s posts. BTW, this post is fueled by Vicodin and Strongbow cider in a can.

TESTING – We may have been hacked.

Actually, infected is a better description. I think I’ve removed the affected files, but if you are still getting a malware or virus alert, please leave a comment. It would also be helpful to know what browser and if you are on a MAc or a PC. Please check the time of the last comment made, if it’s only been 10 minutes, chances are I’m still working on it.

Note to Tumyeto (and others…)

Your reviews are coming. I’ve been working on a new back end to present our product reviews, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Back populating the the old reviews has been taking a lot longer than I thought, and it’s finally made me realize how much static HTML can suck, especially when it’s really old and poorly formatted! That’s Danimal above riding a Toy Machine Billy Marks Fiberprime deck. I’ve got Atomic Wheels, Tarantula Trucks, Dekline shoes, and a host of other, long, long overdue reviews.

12th annual pipe2pipe contest

12th Annual Pipe to Pipe

So there’s a contest series that is half snowboarding , half skateboarding, set across three nonconsecutive days. I’m not sure how it works, but apparently they’ve been doing it for 11 years already. The whole thing takes place on Mount Hood, and the first day is June 12th. The skateboarding events are going down at the Windells facilities, and Bonfire Snow is the other main sposnor. Flyer and bonus shot of Steve Reeves after the jump.
