Wider———-er
We’re getting wider here. Tweaking style sheets, prepping for a redesign. It might get a little mongo around here for every once and a while. There will be some rough edges in the next month or so, but bear with us please.
Skate and Annoy welcomes Mark Conahan
As you may have already noticed, we’re adding some new voices to Skate and Annoy, and Mark Conahan is the latest addition. You may know him from his
101 H.O.M.O.S.
Before I could congratulate MC on his 100th comic, he up and posted number 101. Who wants to see a hundred H.O.M.O.S.? Come on, it’s OK. You can admit it. We won’t judge you. What started out as a mere whim has become an obsession. Looking back at some of the early comics is like looking at the old Peanuts cartoons where all the characters are distorted looking. Oh wait, that’s because he has on occasion taken artistic liberties with a certain Charles E. Brown. Check it out.
Skate and Annoy welcomes Mike Estes
Skate and Annoy welcomes Mike Estes to our stable of performing web monkeys. Among other things, he’s the former editor of the defunct SkatePDXdaily. He’s figuring out the quirks of our “system” now. Here’s an excerpt from his profile: Currently I live in Hood River, OR- I’m a dad, I work in an office 14 hours a day, and when I get outside I make sure I enjoy every second of it by either skating, biking, shooting pictures of my super hot wife, I’m just a sales rep for the entire NW region (ORE, WA, ID, MT & AK) for a few action sports brands. I also talent scout for the next big name in any sport. I got good eyes, and I have a crystal ball that let’s me see your future. And the scarey part, I have eyes all over the world that flow constant information my way. I do it all without a myspace too, imagine that. To those of you “on staff” who didn’t get proper introductions, I’ve been away for a week and I barely made any posts, and this was a quick one. Vibe the new guy!
Adding Contributors
In case you haven’t been paying attention. We’ve got two new contributors on the site with a couple more waiting in the wings. It’s not Devo, even though those silhouettes may suggest otherwise. First there is Egbert, who has been here for a while actually. Today saw the debut of Chompy, who is going to be scouring the Interweb for video. While we don’t encourage an outside life, Egbert also has his own thing here, as Chompy has his own thing here. Big plans for Skate and Annoy. Yes siree. We’ve got ’em. Just you wait and see mister.
Author! Author!
Listen up all you would be zine makers and D.I.Y.ers… Skate and Annoy is looking to add a few new voices to our “staff”. I’m going to grant “author” access to a few lucky people. What that means (besides less work for me) is that you would have the ability to make posts on the blog section of this site. (Hey.. how’d he do that picture?)
Hopless Old Men Turns 50
Hopeless Old Men On Skateboards reaches the mark of 50 comics. Here’s to 50 more! Head on over to MC’s house and give him more encouragement. Yes, this is another lame post to disguise a lack of recent updates.
Andy Wissman, Where Are you?
This Flickr thing is… another great way to waste time. This kid Any Wissman has a couple of cool skate photos posted there. I googled him to see if I could find a web site or something, and found his myspace page. (Nice self portrait!) Problem with all these so-called free Interweb communities and services is that they require you to jump through a bunch of hoops to contact people. You have to join, and that means another password combo to remember. Forget about retrieving it if you use fake info like I usually do. Oh well. Andy, if you are reading this and have some more photos like these, I’d like to put up a small feature on Skate And Annoy if you are down.
eBay Watch Cleaned Up. Missing Post Found.
I cleaned up the formatting and some errors on a bunch of the old posts, took care of some Explorer CSS bugs, and even found a missing post from May 2003. How embarrassing.
Blog and Annoy!
Oh yeah! Diggin the Kool-Aid theme song, and this Kool-Aid Dixie cup dispenser. So this is the first entry into the blog that I’m integrating into the web site that you know and love, Skate and Annoy. I’ve resisted the temptation for a long time until I realized that it makes perfect sense it’s the least painful way to make frequent updates. The bitch of it was integrating it into the structure of the curent web site. I’ve got a redesign on the backburner, so this is just an quick and dirty fix. I’ll be tinkering with it for quite a while, but a work in progress is better than no progress at all. So yeah, we’re blogging, but there’s no way in hell that I’m getting involved in all that Myspace nonsense. Besides, I’m married and don’t need a date.
