Ten year old kid leads advocates for skatepark. What’s your excuse?
As reported in the Evening Courier with the succinct title of Back my bid for new skate park, Daniel Murch is 10 years old and TCB! The rest of you, get on it! I wonder if any of your readers like me think a skate park should be built in Halifax. I’m 10 years old and I think skateboarding is good fun and exercise. Calderdale Council has provided a number of skate parks in the area but none in Halifax, where I live. This doesn’t make any sense because Halifax is bigger than any other town in Calderdale. I have written to the council and also to a number of local firms asking for sponsorship to help meet some of the cost, which is £70,000. I am starting a petition to present to the council. If any of your readers would like to help by signing it or collecting signatures they can contact me by e-mail at Dan@frizinghall.cix.co.uk. Daniel Murch
Small Time shows you how to hang a board.
Small Time Skates of Hammond, Louisiana has a short tutorial on a clean, easy way to hang a skateboard on your wall like you would a picture. Sure, it’s not rocket science, but it’s as good of an excuse as any to post links to some pictures of Dreamland’s skate park in Hammond Louisiana. The locals sound like they are stoked on it. The park shot above is from SkateMS.com. It’s not all bowls. There’s a street section too.
All the animals come out at night.
Some day a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets. Sent in from EPM – How to clean a turd out of your skatepark: 1. Wall anomaly detected 2. Recon of bogey and turd confirmed 3. Tactical unit activated 4. Precision targeting 5. Enemy neutralized 6. Extraction unit mobilized Your full pipe is now turd free! MC, the Turd Commando also has pics on his site. Me? I would have left it up until Grover showed up with a video camera.
Snow Crete?
Ok, so living in the Columbia River Gorge town of Hood River, Oregon isn’t exactly the best weather I’ve experienced so far for skateboarding. So yesterday I had a nice break from my office duties and decided to go skate the park.
SPS Wouldn’t Make This Mistake
A 10,000 acre skatepark. It could happen. From The Onion: In print and excerpted for The Onion Radio. Source: Skatedaily.net Park officials said the typo went undetected, as it was a minor rider to the “Healthy Forests Initiative,” which granted timber companies greater access to public forests. By the time the error was identified, state officials had already spent $43 million integrating the skate park’s numerous ramps, rails, pipes, and inclines into the natural topography of the Absaroka Range. After some deliberation, park officials voted to complete the skate park.
Donald Daze
Here’s a few pics from a short May of 2006 session at Donald Oregon’s bowl that some say is the best fake pool built for skateboarding out there. Skaters names, clickable thumbs and a bonus stencil art shot after the jump.
Twas the night before…
Twas the night before x-mas in Sarasota and all through the concrete, not a creature was ripping, not even in St Pete. Har har har. I wouldn’t know about Tampa or St. Pete, I was in Sarasota and there wasn’t a lot of action at the park today. I guess there was some sort of big event that people were possibly preparing for or something. Here’s a guy named Rob who was carving the hell out this joint on some sort of alternative long board. Every time he went over the top of a transition you could hear his board scrape bottom. Click to enlarge.
Coast to coast!
Think we concentrate on covering Portland Oregon? That’s absurd! We also cover Portland… Maine. Our occasional roving reporter Jason Schomaker sent us three pictures and would like to remind us, East Coast Rules! (add !!!!)
Spot the bail.
Be the first one to spot the bail and win absolutely nothing, compliments of nobody. These shots were taken last night during a heated session in thee back bowl of the D.O.S.. It was pretty cutthroat for about a half an hour there.
Nerdberg
This is a random shot of Matt Swan, Smith grind at Newberg Oregon, circa 2002. This is not a bail. This “kid” barely ever skates. We’re talking a handful of times a year, but he can still pull these super lapped over front sides at the drop of a hat. Infuriating! Click the pic to enlarge. Check out the woolly mammoth legs.
