California Christmas
California Christmas by Manafest, a guy who kind of looks and sounds like the guy from Workaholics. Coming up next on Yo S&A Raps!
Four decades from the morgue in SF
SFGate has posted some pictures in a feature called Four decades of skateboarding in San Francisco. It’s part of their Let’s Go to the Morgue! series where they dig up old photographs from the San Francisco Chronicle. Better versions of the picture, along with a little commentary are on the SFGate blog. The earliest photo dates back to 1964, and the last one is from 1994.
Hey Kool-Aid!
Kool Aid man celebrating Thanksgiving in the Macy’s parade. Photos that weren’t taken with a cell phone pointed at the TV and a little video after the jump. Happy Thanksgiving.
Surf or Die
This is the Surf MC’s album Surf or Die that came out on Profile records in 1987. It’s pretty awful stuff, but the video has decent art direction with a little bit of Pee Wee’s Playhouse and a lot of Stacy Peralta and Craig Steyck. At first I thought it was a music video that Peralta would rather forget, but they used Skull Skates boards instead of Powell Peralta. – Thanks to Heath for the record and Johnny Sampson for the tip.
Send radness over email
Or your cell phone, I guess. PayPal background graphics that MC found. I should try and get these guys to sponsor Ebay Watch.
Don’t be such a chicken
You know all those horrible wildlife shirts you see Grover wearing in photos, assorted GVK videos and real life? Most of them come from his mom, as did this beauty.
Another Jason Lee
From the portfolio of Jason Lee Parry, some from Elle Girl, Japan edition. Nice vintage Jinx shirt.
Astronauts Guide to Life
Chris Hadfield has a new book titled An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth. The astronaut on the cover is on a skateboard, as is the astronaut in the promo video his son made. Good stuff all around. I guess I should have said “The Right Stuff.” [Source: Metro]
Coastal Cooler
Coastal Cooler from Capri Sun. When I was a kid we used to get these for long road trips with the family. It was like a bottle of champaign to me.
TDK tapes, so real.
This is a TDK advertisement shot at Venice Beach circa 1989. I’ve seen this up on ebay before, actually but this one actually comes from the Google Books, repository, adjacent to the digital knoll. It’s from “Spy” magazine… ha. Remember that one? I’m looking at the shape of that board and thinking that might be Dave Hackett. Anyone got any other ideas? – Thanks to Sandor for the tip.
