SOTW 3-26-12: Andy Adams, Fobbed
This week’sShot of the Week is Andy Adams at the DOS/FOB bowl in Portland, as shot by Elias Parise. I’m going to get it out of the way now because I know someone is going to ask again. This is the DOS bowl from the now defunct Department of Skateboarding in Portland, but now it’s a cooperative open to members only, not affiliated with D.O.S.. Fob refers to the electronic key fob that controls access via computer instead of keeping track of a thousand keys. But who cares? That’s a boss lien air. I can’t recall a DOS photo I’ve liked more.

Grow Anthology looks good on paper
So essentially these boards are made out of plastic resin and paper composite, some of it post-consumer waste. Each board sold means a tree planted, so sustainability is important to Grow Anthology. Oddly enough, they aren’t blabbing about it all one the web site. You actually have to look around for it. More than likely, this composite material isn’t viable for your average ledge, stair or rail skater, but for campus cruisers and transportation… Sure, why not. Now your coffee and your skateboard can be Rainforest Alliance certified. Made in USA to boot. Source: Plastolux – Thanks to Va for the tip.

Sponsor Luv: Travis Augustine for Merde
Merde-y Merde merde. Travis Augustine flows on flow in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Holy cow, I guess the skatepark is still open. What’s the sitch, Egbert? “M.” “ake.” “Make.”
Another dinosaur
There’s more than one paleolithic skatepark out there waiting to be re-sessioned. This one near St. Jean de Luz, France might require a mountain board with some 100mm 55a wheels to get rolling. The asphalt looks very pitted. Pretty mild terrain for a skatepark, even by 70’s standard. Maybe the bigger stuff is under the dirt. Check it out on, errrr… FatBMX.
