Milking it, Trifecta style
In case you missed it, it’s Skreech at the Trifecta, skating a deck with the nose broken off. I’m not sure how you do that. In any case, don’t feel bad for him, he’s got his own model out on Addikt now. Enlarge-o-rama.
Reader DIY – The cradle will rock
Actually, I don’t think Kevin was a reader until after I profiled his garage minibowl, but I’m claiming it anyway. Check out the build and a video of the bowl in action after the jump. Where’s it at, where’s it at? A small town in Quebec. I’ll let him divulge if he wants.
Marginal Way benefit weekend bonanza
This weekend is the big three day benefit concert series for Marginal Way skatepark in Seattle, Washington. It’s being held at The Funhouse, which is located at 206 5th Ave N. in Seattle. Pay attention kids, The series start on Friday, Saturday night is not a benefit. Sunday and Monday are though. Like the flyer says, miniramp, bands, dj’s raffles… A fun way to support Seattle’s DIY park. Photo of anonymous Marginal Way overnight guest by Marek Litinsky.
SOTW 8-31-09: Drop Ditch
Here’s another one from Sk8 D. It’s the Drop ditch in San Antonio, Texas, circa 1998. That’s one hell of a drop. One hell of a drop. Nice job setting up the shot. Check it larger as the Shot of the Week.
Even Oregon theaters are skateable
Backstage spy shot of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival production of All’s Well That Ends Well, as shot by Abraham Hyatt, shortly before he got the boot. It’s in Ashland, Oregon, which also has a skatepark if you aren’t interested in barging the set decorations.
Fake Salba vs Salba
Inset: An amusing fake Salba workout video. Good concept, a little sloppy on the follow through. Larger: Skating the wildfire pools of California with Salba. The first quarter is setup, but they get to the pool eventually. Watch them both after the jump. – Thanks to ColinWalshRules for the tip.
More protective plastic than ever before
Well this is it. The last installment of Skateboarding Action, courtesy of Carl Warren. We laughed, we cried, we bailed. Here’s Bill Tocco and some information on buying a skateboard. Today’s skateboards are stronger, bigger, more colorful, and have more protective plastic than ever before. Enlarge-o-rama. For kids… and former kids
Judi Oyama is organizing a show called “Praise the Board” at Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History from September 4 – 27. There’s a skateboard contest being held in association with the exhibit on the 19th. The show is designed to showcase the talent of local Santa Cruz artists and how they have contributed to the worldwide success of skateboarding as a sport. This isn’t an official NHS function, it’s more a case of contributing artists tooting their own horn. The image above is one of the things Judi has collected in preparation. Can’t make it Santa Cruz? Your generous benefactors at Skate and Annoy are working to bring the show to Portland after the run in Santa Cruz. We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, contest details after the jump.
Late snap of the week
Jessica Starkweather at the Oregon-you-know-what, you know-know-where edition. I take this shot of her every time I see her at Pier Park, though usually the timing is better, as it’s actually a double truck frontside carve grind. Enlarge-o-rama.
