The new skatepark for the city of Lafayette, CO is having a grand opening on December 11th, at noon, although I hear there has already been a soft opening. Check some more pictures on the Facebook page.. It seems like Team Pain owns the state of Colorado these days.

Cool title for this inspired surf instrumental by the band The Five out of Brisbane, Australia. Miseri Loves Company is from their 2010 ep titled ‘For Five Nights Only’. The video has schoolyard skateboard footage form the 70’s.

Second oldest skate joke in the book after using a real broom to pull a “sweeper.” And that familiar gag is digging a bowl in your back yard and calling it a fish pond to get around zoning and nosy neighbors. In the case of the Bear’s Reef, the homeowner was digging up cat poo in the back yard and unearthed a buried fishpond, inspiring him to renovate it to make it more skateable. Beefed up transition and homemade coping. Sounds like a great project. No idea what part of the country this is in, but I found it while checking in Herman’s Hole, so maybe it’s in the Midwest. Well, it’s already been kickstarted, it needs to be finished. This is a backyard bowl in Richmond, Virginia. The builders are looking for money to essentially fill the rest of the yard with concrete. Their motivation, besides the obvious, is the total lack of skateparks in Richmond. People pledge donations that are held in escrow on the condition that the $5,500 goal is met before time runs out. So many titles to chose from. There’s For Life, or For Now, and Fall On You Own Sword, or Victimized Again? What am I talking about? it only took six months for Mike V. to bail on By the Sword, the skateboard company he started after ditching Element. By the Sword heavily used the slogan “DIY or Die” in marketing and products. So what beats doing it yourself? Vallely has signed with Powell Peralta again, a company he complained bitterly about on several occasions. It seems every skateboard entity is intent on making Mike a “pawn” and exploiting his hard work and reputation, but I guess time and money heals all wounds. One can’t help but feel bad for all the shops and distributors that fully got behind Mike V. It’s almost like he used them like… pawns in his game. I realize this is a scene from Sid & Nancy. Somehow a reenactment of Sid Vicious singing “My Way” is more appropriate than the actual footage embedded on the official By the Sword web site, with no offense meant towards Gary Oldman.

Welcome Skateboards has a long time relationship with the Sorcery 118 crew. In fact they even released a Sorcery deck. If you haven’t watched any of the Sorcery videos, you should. Most of their vids are street and parks, but here’s some rare vert ramp action in honor of Grover’s return from Michigan. Sorcery crew is a prolific, you could spend hours there.
