DP tattoo
There’s a picture of a tattoo of an iconic photo of Duane Peters on a Swedish skate blog called Old Bastards. No information on whose tattoo it is, I translated all the comments and they’re mostly about when the U.S. Bombs are going to be playing in Sweden. [Source: OMSA]
Time Lapse Theater: OMSA Bowl
Mixing it up a little in Time Lapse Theater. This week we have the factory bowl wooden pool replica courtesy of Dietches at OMSA. Somewhere in Germany.
Quiksilver All 80’s All Day Vert Challenge
Mike McGill, Kevin Staab, Tony Hawk and Christian Hosoi in a promo for The Quiksilver All 80’s All Day Vert Challenge on January 7th, 2011 at SurfExpo in Orlando, FL. The video is mildly amusing, coming off better than most of the skits in Animal Chin, yet highly reminiscent of course. Skaters committed to show so far are Tony Hawk Christian Hosoi ,Mike McGill, Kevin Staab, Andy Macdonald, Mike Frazier, Ben Schroeder, Buck Smith, Henry Gutierrez and (wait for it….) Rodney Mullen????? Apparently. No word on whether his parents will let him skate vert yet. Video plus one with slightly extended highlights from last year, after the jump. – Thanks to Bob Mechtly for the tip.
Recursive redundancy
A sculpture of a skatepark, on a skateboard, in a skatepark. Pretty simple. Nansei calls this “Let’s Go Surfing Instead.” – Thanks to Aaron for the tip.
Laziness and Destiny
Destiny made sure the comment with this video was held in moderation. Laziness made me withhold it until I could make it into it’s own post. So yeah… Commercials… Skateboards… Ubiquitous. This web site is now irrelevant. Two skateboard spots for Dickies, one featuring Patrick Melcher and two featuring “SLAM.” Dickies pants indestructible? Sure they can withstand extreme dude’s hijinks, but they are destructible vs repeated old man butt slides on the transition. – Thanks to Eric for the tip.
Html 5 by Bryce Kanights
Apple has some HTML 5/CSS3 demos online as their way of justifying blowing off Flash promoting Web Standards compliance in their devices like the iPad and iPhone. The typography section features a rad Bryce Kanights photo of Tony Farmer.
Skate Fails from Apparatu
Skate Fails are a collaboration between Alex Trochut & Xavier Mañosa that can be found over at Apparatu. The collection features decks that look like they are made out of spilled paint or decks that have somehow been melted and made pliable. How do they achieve this effect? They are ceramic. The trucks look real, but some of those wheels might be ceramic as well. Skateboard art is… a mixed bag in general. The skateboarding public in general seems to have lower expectations for what qualifies as “art.” It’s nice to see someone fully execute a concept. I like several of these pieces, in particular, I’d love to have that red one hanging up on my wall. – Thanks to Michel Skart Poulin for the tip.
Electric skateboard technology marches on…
But does anyone care? Looks like they are getting more powerful though. This one from E-Glide is supposed to be all terrain. They even make one with an aluminum deck. I don’t think this really qualifies as earth-friendly green technology since you could just push with your feet for zero emissions, depending on what you’ve eaten earlier in the day. Video after the jump. – Thanks to Ben Reese for the tip. [Source: EarthTechling]
Seeing Red (Bull)
Well, it’s a commercial I guess. Throw some paint around in the studio, let it dry a little and film it for the folks at Red Bull. Video featuring Joey Brezinski and behind the scenes after the jump. – Thanks to Boy Ipoh for the tip.
