000-sotw-01-19-09: Kansas City Missouri

SOTW 1-19-09: Roadkill in Kansas City.

This week’s Shot of the Week is Trevor Osterholt, AKA Roadkill, at a spot in Kansas City Missouri. It was taken back in October of 2008, by photographer Ryan Young, who is currently in Iraq serving as a Marine photo journalist. What a cool looking “natural” spot. Now if only he was six inches tall he could hit that full pipe too. Speaking of size, does anyone else think I should start making the SOTW larger in the gallery? Check out the full size Shot of the Week.

SOTW 1-5-08: Sign in Bowl - Ron Emory

SOTW 1-5-08: More Sign In bowl.

After seeing himself in last week’s shot of the week, Runaway insisted that we at least use a good shot. That wasn’t a dig a Peter Dietsches’ photo skills, Keith was just being self deprecating. In order to detract attention from his corn rows, Keith furnished two great shots of TSOL member Ron Emory at the same bowl. Above is a close up of one of them. Love the debris flying off, and if you can believe it, it’s a make of a backside edger that took a turn for the hairy. Word is he made those regularly. Keith said Ron owned that pool, and you’ll be inclined to agree if you check out the full frame Shot of the Week as well as a bonus shot after the jump.

SOTW 12-29-08: Sign in Bowl

Squeaking in under the wire in the last few hours of the last day of the week, this week’s Shot of the Week is Billy Runaway at the Sign In bowl in LA, as shot by Peter Dietsches in 1990. Nothing says late, late 80’s like those Hamor Hed and Gouge logos. You might remember Billy Runaway in the early days of Thrasher. He now heads up Addikt Skateboards. Check out the full frame Shot of the Week.

SOTW 12-22-08: Trifecta leftovers

A good excuse not to post every single picture is in case I need a Shot of the Week and I’m in the middle of a snowstorm, I can pull something from the archives. This is Jon Jon Bryan from the Lincoln City leg of the Trifecta in 2008. Next week I’ve got a scheduled roundup of assorted 2008 Trifecta coverage from various sources, including Brazil! Jon Jon makes skateboards over at ABC. Check out the full frame Shot of the Week.

SOTW: Skatepark finishing by the moonlight

This week’s Shot of the Week is from Carl Warren who sent in more pictures of the Hood River construction. By the time I got around to posting them, Estes had sent in some more that leapfrogged the progress. I liked the long exposure of the finishing at night, so this is a good excuse to post it even though it’s not “news” anymore. I was so far behind that I had to backdate the previous SOTW. There are a couple more shots from Carl after the jump, otherwise, check out this week’s Shot of the Week.
