The original hipsters
Sorry hipsters, your dad was the original hipster and he was killing it back in the day. From the web site Dads: The Original Hipsters. Follow the link to get the scoop. It’s pretty funny, but even better in the context of the whole web site. – Thanks to Greg Baller for the tip.
SOTW 4-18-11: The Donuthill
This week’s Shot of the Week is from Dave Giesbrecht photo of Steve Walsh at the Donuthill project in Omaha, Nebraska. The Donuthill is a private indoor spot. Check out the Shot of the Week..
SOITS: OTC Club in Minneapolis
This week’s Shot of the Indeterminate Time Span is a photo of Craig Platteter at the OTC bowl in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Photo by Augie Van Arx. Check it out.
SOTW 1-23-11: Jamie Jacobson
Holy cow! I know, right, it’s amazing that I’ve actually updated the Shot of the Week two weeks in a row… Yuck yuck yuck. What’s amazing is that this kid (Young adult?, Seasoned veteran?) Jamie Jacobson apparently has this move down pat and isn’t bothered by hitting it without shoes. This capsule face carve is as Dave Duncan would say (over and over) “no joke.” Thanks to Dabe Alan again for the photo. I had to include the oversized enlargement for this one. I need to kick up the Shot of the Week anyway, it’s still set at a 2003 bandwidth.
SOTW 1-17-11: Britannia Beach, British Columbia
Ryan Jones in Britannia Beach, British Columbia, as shot by his girlfriend Rebecca. Check out the Shot of the Week.
SOTW 1-10-11: Shillside and goth band sand
The city of Zurich, Switzerland had no transition until a group of locals got together and took it upon themselves to take the D.I.Y. route instead of waiting for someone else to do it for them. The result is called Sihlside. This week’s Shot of the Week is a Nicolas Buechi photo of… crud. Forgot to get the name. A little help Nicholas? (Update: Ivo Weibel) If you can believe it, the whole project cost less than 700CHF! I can believe it because I have no concept of at CHF is. Watch the video after the jump to get a glimpse of some new wave sand at the 1:24 mark, or check out the Shot of the Week.
SOTW 12-20-10: Alex Schuurmans
You can tell by the infrequency of the SOTW updates that it’s not a high priority. So it’s by that token that the same photographer has the shot two “weeks” in a row, more like a month. When I saw this shot of Alex Schuurmans hitting nose sliding the banister inside of Rip City I had to jump on it. It’s another Dabe Alan shot. Alex Schuurman is supposed to be on the flow team at Merde. What’s the holdup Egbert? Move this kid up to the next level or someone else will, like maybe the company who makes those nice looking boards immediately on the other side of the stairs. Check out this week’s Shot of the Week.
SOTW 11-15-10
This week’s shot of the week is form recent Ohio transplant Dabe Alan. It’s Jamie Jacobson at a private indoor spot located in Portland, Oregon. Check out the full frame version of this week’s Shot of the Week.
SOTW 8-16-10: Andy Macdonald at Pier Park
Going over the mouse hole in Pier Park is pretty gnarly. Andy Macdonald made it over in his first try this year, I assume he made it over last year too. Andy took some video with a helmet cam for those of us who will likely never see the view from up there. Once you get to the point where it’s no sweat to make it over frontside or backside, what else is there? How about this frontside boardslide over the top? Steve Grover captured it with his point and shoot. Watch the video after the jump or check out the full size Shot of the Week. UPDATE: Alternate views now available over on Earth Patrol Media.
SOTW 7-12-10: Tom’s tombstone
Ok, it’s a little morbid, but still, I have to believe any skateboarder who knew what a tombstone was would be pleased to have one named in his honor. This week’s Shot of the Week from the Tommy McGuigan memorial Dawn of the Shred. at the Corvallis, Oregon skatepark. Check out the Shot of the Week. Bonus out takes after the jump.
