SOTW 1-9-11: Brooklyn Street with Andy Anderson
This week’s Shot of the Week is Andy Anderson flying through Brooklyn Street Skate Spot in Portland, Oregon as shot by Micah Breshears. I usually fight the urge to crop and change the aspect ratio of a photograph, but in this case I prefer a different view. Andy Anderson? I once knew a guy whose dad was named Stan S. Stanley, and you know what the “s” stands for.
SOTW 11-21-11: David Tucker in Orem, Utah
This week’s Shot of the Week is David Tucker in Orem, Utah as shot by Gage Thompson. That’s some serious tweakage!
SOTW 11-14-11: Andrew Adams at Burnside
This week’s Shot of the Week is an Andrew Adams kickflip taken at Burnside by Elias Parise. It’s also the image used in the flyer for his show currently on display at FOCO Gallery in Portland. – Thanks to Ted Schwallie for the tip. He’s got photos of the opening on Facebook.
SOTW 11-7-11: Bingen
This week’s Shot of the Week is from Carl Warren, on his home truf in Bingen, Washington. Say hello to Rayburn Edwards. It’s Fall, at least in our hemisphere. The only thing missing is a pumpkin. Thanks Carl!
SOTW 10-3-11: Matt Lee
This installment of Shot of the Week features Matt Lee at a high school in Portland, Oregon. I’m trying to come up with a pun or play on words for No Child Left Behind, but it’s not in me. Noprize to the best reader contribution. Thanks to Joe Stevens for the photo. Enlarge-o-rama.
SOTW 9-12-11: St John’s Bridge
This shot of Jeremy Tuffli taken by Garric Ray recently appeared in Skateboarder magazine: I shot the photo of Jeremy on January 2nd and he did the trick in 23 degree weather! I think I spent a couple hours with a weed wacker to clean up the spot so you can see the drop as well. I still trip out that he landed the blunt fakie in the first place. Not sure if you’ve been to the St. Johns quarter pipe under the bridge or not, but you can get really hurt skating that spot if things go wrong. You can check out the Shot of the Week, but I would stay here for enlarge-o-rama so you can see what’s happening. I need to get that incorporated into the SOTW.
SOTW 8-29-11: Cameron Schafer
The Shot of the Week is Cameron Schafer with a kgrind 180 out as captured by Joe Stevens. It looks much better in enlarge-o-rama.
SOTW 6-27-11: Dirtpipe
This week’s shot of the week is a Joe Stevens shot of Colton Carnahan at a Vancouver, Washington spot that is essentially a dirt quarterpipe that must have been made for bikes but is hard packed enough to skate on. This is actually a detail from the shot. I need to switch over SOTW so you can see the images bigger. Check out this week’s Shot of the Week.
SOTW 6-20-11: Get Rad
Simple and too the point. This is a drive-by phone cam shot of a wall in North Portland that was taken last November and it looks a lot different now. Shot of the Week.
SOTW 5-16-09: Frank Shaw at Myrtle Creek
This is a detail from this week’s Shot of the Week, a Gabe Trejo photo of Frank Shaw riding the face of one of the three full pipes at the Myrtle Creek, Oregon skatepark. Check out the full frame shot of the week.
