More pools
Wouldn’t is suck to be the one family in this neighborhood who didn’t have their own backyard pool? I mean, you’d still have a very nice roof over your head, but still… This is a detail from a Vincent Laforet photo. It’s number 20 at his page on the Young Gallery.
2 fer 1 special on cock blocks
These are from the Oregon Trifecta’s Battleground stop last year. Sometimes it’s a dog-eat-dog world out there in the ranks of the Portland non-professional skateboard media. Looks like that might be Rich from EPM, or possibly Mike from The Skateboard Archives, or even Dan from Northwest Skater. Don’t feel sorry for me, cause I’ve poached them all too.
I have something in common with rollerbladers.
I saw examples of this technique and was thinking about trying it on a skatepark shot. It’s a polar coordinates distortion filter manipulation of a 360° panorama. Photo by Michael Martin Oops, looking at his photoset, I’m guessing this kid is into the rollerblades in addition to photo manipulation tricks. Another guy has posted some instructions for all you rasterbaters out there.
Snow Pool, Bozeman Rules
The deep end of this pool wasn’t all that skate-able, but the shallow end woulda been a lot of fun. I thought the snow was ironic none-the-less. Straight from Bozeman Montana I bring you some really shitty drunken point-and-shoot pictures. Rumor has it that there is an abandoned half-built hotel there with a sheet metal, sterling silver pool as well, but it’s locked up and I haven’t had time to break in and check it out yet. I do plan on it with my next trip. Even if I don’t find it, I’ve always wanted to get myself into the Bozeman Police Reports. It is one of my life goals. I think they have a 5 year old write them, and they sometimes have some pretty funny stuff in them. My favorite of today, “A dog killed two ducks”. Yes folks, basically just an excuse to post the amusing ramblings of Skate and Annoy correspondent Damienhialation. The Bozeman Police Reports write up was pretty funny that day. It’s changed since then, but I saved it for reference. “A dog killed two ducks” is a good one, but I prefer the one from the Mother of the 15 year old boy.
UFOs on Rainbows
What the heck is going on here? Mike from Old Man Army sent in a couple pics thoughtfully (and sensitively) titled Rainbows in the desert. It makes a lot more sense when you see them full frame.
Arrive at the airport early
I’m gradually amping up for an upcoming trip to Florida. You might say over-amping, considering the Florida links around here in the past few days. Or maybe just working on cultivating our niche-niche markets. Here’s a Morris Eaddy shot of Todd Morrow taken at the Dunedin Skatepark, Florida, back in October of ’07. Click to enlarge.
Is the rainy season over?
Is the rainy season over here in the Northwest? I feel sorry for you guys in the Midwest, aren’t you in four feet of snow right now? We’re in the middle of a really nice stretch of weather out here, making these indoor spots less of a draw these days. Dave Viera sent in a couple recent shots of local favorite Johnny Turgesen skating inside a nicely color coordinated facility.
Another beautiful day
There’s no better way to combat a buzzkill than enjoying a session in some unseasonably dry and warm weather. if you can’t actually go out and skate today, you can still enjoy some photos from a session at Pier Park last Saturday.
Two D’s at DOS Bowl
Two mediocre shots of Dave and Damien from some recent sessions at the DOS bowl in Portland. Mediocre because of the photographer, not the skaters. Enlarge the action after the jump. They recently added lights to the bowl and now you can actually see back there. Where as it used to be like skating in a very dusty closet, it’s almost too bright now! With the fairly new birch layer and the sudden illumination, it’s like the bowl riders are now more than an afterthought there. Thanks guys! These shots were taken mid installation, so it’s actually a lot brighter now.
Ineffective Blatant Localism
Apparently all you have to do is ask. These images are from last weekend. According to our anonymous source, a surf shop gave up the location with only a slight runaround. Come to think about it, that’s the same way I found out about the Nude Bowl as a youth visiting from the Midwest. I went to the nearest skateshop and just asked. But getting back to the Graveside scenery, it looks guh-narly. One tightly cropped panoramic shot after the jump. Don’t ask, we aren’t telling.
