GVK #61: Chariots of Perspire
Drama, drama, drama. I created drama with slow motion. I actually just figured out how to use the slow motion on my new camera. Sixty frames per second instead of 30. It’s apparent where the old technology comes in when I’m using my old camera. It appears as stop-action. The new one is smooth as $500 can buy.
GVK #60: Burnside Halloween 2010
The good, the rad, and the colorful showed up for Burnside’s 20th anniversary; a skate event that accepts all types. Sometimes there is too much testosterone flowing in a session. This was not the case at the Hallowenis event. I witnessed many bare-chested men with erect nipples; a clear sign of arousal. Be it skateboarding or bare-chestedness, both were out in full force at this yearly tribute to diversity and alternative lifestyles. Here’s a bit of what I saw.
GVK #59: Mt Trashmore Vert Ramp
Alright this is the second in a row – VERT is back. When I was in my skate hay-day I would spend part of the summers in Virginia Beach. There were about 6 city ramps in that town in the mid-80’s. Mt. Trashmore was the tallest and the first. I heard FUD (a.k.a. John Fudala) actually designed it. It was always a heavy session after 5 o’clock every night. Every session was a jam format and he who did not bail won the right to ride the whole ramp. My friend Bone Man and I came up with a plan to get runs after 5 pm – when one of us was going to fall, we would avoid falling in front of each other and make our bodies as big as we could on the flat to take up space so no one could drop in. This plan rarely worked. Mt. Trashmore produced great riders, everyone from Scary Larry to the Guitierrez trio (all three of which still ride). There were many more that were always nice and fun to watch skate. While there for my brief visit, I pulled up to the ramp where Allen Midget and Henry were…
GVK #58: PDX Dew Tour
Got this one out quick, results are just in And it goes like this. 1 S white 2 Bucky 3 PLG. The guys at the Dew Tour give me a pass every year. I wonder if they know I am not the real Media Director at Skate and Annoy. That’s the title I tell them I am branded with. I suppose it could be true I will have to check with Human Resources to be sure. This year I had the honor of being able to film practice here’s what I got. Oh yeah X-games gold medal winner Pedro qualified into the final and fell during practice and dislocated his elbow he did not ride the final. Arm in cast Vicodin in mouth. It was fun as hell to watch him practice. This contest always gets me so excited about Vert let’s build a ramp. GROVER OUT. UPDATE: The video is back, not quite sure why it disappeared.
GVK #57: Shrunken Head
Mike And Justin succeed where few have. The have been in the skate retail business for 5 years know. According to the Government. If you can stay in business that long you are a success. Well no matter what the government or Shaun White says I like these guys. All though I have only spent an average of maybe 10 dollars a year there. They are a hit with the skate crowd. Tune Drop out and spend some money here… Help start the economy and buy something GVK Out
GVK#55: Terror Tour 2010
Noting epic here just A Good Ole Fashioned TERROR TOUR Annual spring Oregon coast tour. Many or these parks are empty as you can see, so get your trip on. If your lucky you may run into the Zombie or the Ghost. If you do make sure to make them happy by giving them money. Gvk OUT.
GVK# 55
It’s been a long time in between movies so here is a little something to keep you watching. A few friends riding falling and singing, Enjoy this GVK production.
GVK #54: X-Mas Footage for all
Some X-Mas Footage for all. It would have been longer and better except I have to finish my last-minute Christmas shopping. If you don’t like it, file a complaint with the editor-in-chief of Skate and Annoy. Merry Christmas from the Staff at GVK. (Editor’s note: I’m filing my own complaint. I’m having a hard time finding the “X-mas” in this X-mas footage! – K.ed)
GVK #53: Halloween at Burnside 2009
So I did not have a lot of time to shoot footage for Halloween plus you are always so distracted by the Show. I did see a lot of good stuff that did not make it to the camera. The weather was great, awesome turn out. There is a sort of weird good family vibe at that Burnside Banks. I feel like if my kid got lost people would try to help him feel okay and get him help. Just to set the mode when I pulled up Red had the music so loud it almost hurt you ears and the song was the song from the bar scene in star wars where Luke and OB-1 meet Han Solo. Who would of thought that could hurt your ears. If you didn’t make you missed it. – Skate Off, Grover. P.S. Some of you may have seen this already, I put this together last week and got tired of waiting for Kilwag to get his site running again – See this video.
GVK #51: 2009 Fall Road Trip
Nothing epic here just some average skating. It is the 3rd annual Fall Road Trip this year we went to the desert. Stage #1 Irrigon Pendelton Milton-Freewater. These parks were fun and wide open as you can see from the footage they were Ghost parks. Stage #2 Bend Madras And Redmond with the Sharps and the Kilwags The footage is boring but it was a great trip maybe you can join us next year. Grover out.
