Machotaildrop in Portland

Friday night only at the Clinton Street Theater. All ages show at 7pm. 21 and over at 9pm. It looks good if you are into a Wes Anderson/Spike Jonez/Michel Gondry vibe with skateboarding as a plot device to boot. Might be the first time a skateboard drama doesn’t suck. Check out the trailer.

Swell Art Show in NYC

    The grand opening for the Swell Art Show in New York City is today (July 1) in the Chelsea neighborhood. The exhibit takes place in four different locations, however the relevant gallery is the NYEHaus, a hard to find house turned gallery located at 358 W 20th Street (between 8th and 9th avenue). Three excellent surf/skate artists are on display there, Steve Olson, Craig Stecyk, and Michael Halsband. After the jump are some pictures from the preview last night. The show is from July 1st till August 6th.

Above Coping party

Join Above Coping Friday, June 11th at Errata Art Gallery 328 NW Broadway in Portland, OR. Doors open at 6 pm, events start at 8 pm. All ages, but Deschutes Beer available for 21+guests. Amazing artwork, silent auction, and raffle to raise funding to support youth skaters with chronic health conditions. I missed the First Thursday opening. It probably won’t even be too hard to park Friday. Check out the list of silent auction and raffle items after the turn.

Manam Saturday

Sorry for the last minute nature of the post. Today is the first annual Man Am Shred Fest at 6 Twenty One Skateshop in Livermore, Ca. This one should be interesting to say the very least, I think it’s gonna be like Comedy Central’s “Man Show” only with a Skateboard Contest in the middle of it…yow The Date is this Saturday (June 5th) The contest will feature: Live Music by the WHISKEY AVENGERS, Beer, Elaborate Fanfare, All Forms of Complete Foolishness, and of course Skateboarding up the Wazoo! The contest begins at 5 pm and will be held at the 6 Twenty One Skateshop in Livermore CA on their indoor half pipe ramp. The event is for 21 years of age or over only, so, sorry youngsters, this one’s for the crusties… Entry to the event is $20 dollars, which includes Contest Entry Fee as well as Ensuing Soirée Age Divisions as follows: 21-30 31-40 41-Death (Talk about a chance for all you old bastards to shine, YIKES.) It’s been raining on and off here in Portland for the past few days. You’re itching to skate right? Fuel TV’s Pool Party webcast is going to be totally clogged, so maybe you should pack up the RV and head down to Matt Kline’s in Grants Pass for the bowl jam tomorrow. Matt called and said it’s on. Saturday San Francisco to Seattle

In San Francisco this Saturday, City Underground, which is a combination of World Cup Skateboarding contest, music festival and tattoo parlor. Some of the bands include Face To Face, Circle Jerks, Jughead’s Revenge, La Plebe, Adolescents and Hightower. Meanwhile, in Seattle, Marginal Way DIY skatepark is having a fun-draiser in the form of the First Annual Taco Feed. All you can eat Asada Tacos $10 dollar plates and a skateboard pinata. Also this Saturday, the John Doe Zine 21st Anniversary Skate Jam in Cheyenne Wyoming skatepark at 1pm Mountain time. Don’t forget about the Portland area park slalom contest.
