Haroshi Rocks
Haroshi makes lots of cool sculptures out of used skateboards, including this forthcoming electric guitar collaboration with Deluxe and HUF. Pretty damned cool, although what does Deluxe need to be involved for, other than to provide pre-recycled skateboards? Maybe they are seconds. Rock on.

The best art causes pain or mental anguish
From the upcoming Bumbershoot music festival in Seattle, a scheduled art installation called ‘Skaters Gauntlet’: W. Scott Trimble’s sculptural installation is a fantastic obstacle course that includes a 360-degree skate pipe, skate bowl extension towers, a freestanding quarter pipe, ramps over obstacles, and more impossible structures that would taunt the most seasoned and reckless of skateboarders — if they were allowed to skate on it. As Bobcat pointed out, “…basically, not only are they going to close Seaskate for Bumbershit…. they are going to build an ‘art exhibit’ and not let skaters ride it.Time to rile up the Daggers.”
Best of Skate Fate
Holy Cow (skates) It’s the legendary GSD and his seminal zine Skate Fate. I’ll bet he hates being called legendary.GSD is celebrating the 30 (!) year anniversary of Skate Fate by releasing a 320 page best of volume, which you can pick up for a reasonable price at Blurb, except the shipping (fixed pirce from Blurb) is pretty steep. Anyone want to go in on a joint order? Press release and sample pages after the jump.
Boardworld
I envision a post apocalyptic future where gangs of longboarders maraud the outskirts of a dying civilization, raiding the unprepared and the weak, pillaging and plundering for the only currency left from the the modern world’s halcyon days, the recycled skateboard. Seriously, soon enough broken boards are going to become almost as valuable as a new board. Shwood makes sunglasses out of old skatebaords, something we’ve recently seen before, but this incarnation is constructed in a different manner. Shwood is out in the burbs of Portland, and fittingly, local filmer/photog Joe Stevens put together a video that shows the skateboard pre-demise, post-reincarnation and everything in between.
Narrow minded
Some people are obsessed with skateboards, others with making 8 bit pixel art in the style of old video game perspective. Head on over to eBoy for an odd little assortment.
Skate Army
More plastic skate army men, although a little more literal than the the ones from Toyboarder, and near as I can tell these aren’t being mass produced. There is zero information available from the the artist Steve Nishimoto’s web site. These might be nothing more than doctored photographs. [Source: Hypebeast] – Thanks to Seth Levy for the tip.
Driftwood skateboard
MC’s driftwood skateboard made an appearance in GVK #70. As Mark explained it, “I got the idea to make a skateboard out of driftwood.” Photos by Rich Burton, courtesy of Earth Patrol Media after the jump.
