Know your NIMBY
Captain Greenaway from an article in The Bold italic titled Know Your NIMBYs, a guide to San Francisco’s Loudest Citizens. This potent NIMBY opposes anything that isn’t green. That may be as simple as a lack of compost bins and/or organic food for her children at school, or the more complex issue of impinging on 420 rights. They can often be found joining forces with The Transportationazi to do things such as not allow a highway to go through residential areas and instead be routed down Van Ness Avenue. They will also change shade slightly and take on the light of The Vegan Avenger and/or The Community Gardenist to make sure that nature wins above all else. [Source: Team Print Shop]
WANTED: Graphics from Ron Cameron
Ron Cameron and co-author Christian Kline of Poweredge Magazine are working on a book for 3 years now and this is the rough, unfinished cover. Ron has designed for Blockhead, H-Street, Vision, Acme, Strike, Grape Netwerk, 510 Wood, World Industries, Blind, Toy Machine, Foundation, Scarecrow, Riviera … and is looking for photographs of his decks in all colourways, especially the Blockhead ones. You can contact him here. All names of the contributors will get their names printed in the Contributors section. Also, Ron and Dave Berthold are working on a new Blockhead project, so that’s cool!
The Sean Cliver ”Driveway sun tilt method”
This quick sketch from Blockhead artist Ron Cameron shows the best way to shoot a board at home. Ron is working on a book and sent me this so I could photograph a super nice and rare Blockhead deck I found in an old toy store in Belgium last year. The method works just fine and is tested and approved by Sean Cliver himself.

Upcycled tools
Let’s see… got an axe to grind? Want to throw down a few hammers? Tools with handles made from used skateboards and tennis racquets! Some of them are quite beautiful. Get yours modestly priced at Copemans Corner. – Thanks to Rich for the tip.
Powell Peralta business cards
These are business cards for Powell Peralta, which are excellent in an of themselves, plus they have the added benefit (or detraction, depending on your point of view) of being reminiscent of the Feederz album “Ever Feel like Killing Your Boss?” which was covered in sandpaper that meant it would destroy any record cover it came in contact with. Likewise, if someone gave you this business card you probably would want to put it in your wallet or pocket next to your phone. The even went the extra step of adding a kicktail. If only they took this attention to detail and applied it to some of their rereleases. And it it goes without saying (except I’m saying it…) that these obviously remind me of the Maple XO hang tags. Hack Job
Check out the Hack Job submissions, a joint project through Booooooom.com and Converse Skateboarding from way back in 2010. There are some good little skateboard effigies there. I think someone else originally hipped me to this, but it’s been lost in the annals of my email apps. – Thanks to Boy Ipoh for the tip.
That’s what you get…
…for listening to Blink 182. Especially in 2012. As seen on Gigposters.com.
Shove it, Des Moines!
Shove it is a crazy huge art show crossover with skateboards, artists and paper toy designers. It would seem like an odd thing, but MC made a paper toy version of GVK a few years ago. This is a Kickstarter project, and they need the money to produce limited releases of the skateboards I guess. It’s also supposed to be a public relations effort for a new skatepark in Des Moines, but they are super, super vague about that in the video, which is, in any case, pretty interesting for the Kickstarter genre.
MIke Perry
Mike Perry is an artist who works in a lot of mediums and make a wide variety of objects, including this odd little wooden skateboard object. He’s got a handful of skateboards and skateboard-related pieces sprinkled in his collection of work.
