Whiny Skateboarder Tasered by Police
Watching the interviews with this kid will make you understand why he got tasered. It doesn’t make it right, but I would have been tempted to taser this annoying whiner myself. Campus authorities say the tasering was not because he was skateboarding, it was because he was not complying with police. A girl caught it on her cell phone and posted it on Youtube. Ironically, the original has disappeared and as of now only exists on Youtube as it has been shown on a couple different TV news shows, by pointing the news camera at a computer monitor. After the jump you can find some links to the story as well as a YouTube videos of the the news showing a YouTube video on TV. Can you deal with that? Am I blowing your tiny minds?
Back in Stak!!!!!!!
Dear Sleestak, I know I haven’t been around much lately, I’ve just been… Well, you know, busy. Ever since I started updating Skate and Annoy on a regular basis I haven’t had time to hang out over there very much. Listen, I think we should see other people and still be friends.
A civilized way to spend an evening
Here’s a link to a short bit on a BBC program titled North West Tonight about older skaters. It’s mainly an interview with the founder of the UK’s Middle Age Shred. The video quality isn’t great, it looks like they forgot to deinterlace it. The skating is mostly blah, and when it isn’t the camera work is bad. It does have an impossibly hip sound track considering the stuffed shirt that hosts the program. There is some cool 70’s era footage with a bitchin’ T Rex lead in. If you look close you can see an Old Man Army Falling Down deck – good graphic… From Arizona to Manchester, old men are on the rise. Catch the video and some more old man news after the jump.
Cirque De Soleil hiring a street skater. (Attention Daniel Gesmer!!)
Cirque De Soleil is hiring a street skater. “We are currently seeking a Skateboard – Street Specialist for our new production at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York city. Please note that we are not looking for Ramp’s specialists. ” This sounds like Daniel Gesmer’s dream job, and they are hiring immediately. [Source: Skate-Bulletin-Board]
He did it.
When he’s not out skating or contributing to Skate And Annoy, Danimal is doing it, (It! IT!) which reminds me of the time Mrs. Krabappel and Principal Skinner were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and the baby looked at me. Congrats to Dan and his wife on the birth of Lina Anzu Glowicki, who I assume is regular foot.
Indoor action
These are a couple of old images from 2004. The spot is (was?) at the home of half of Shrunken Head. Enlargements and two more shots after the jump
Iggy Pop marries Bam Margera
In a ceremony in Massachusetts… Actually, that’s not true. Iggy Pop didn’t marry or enter into a domestic partnership with Bam. He didn’t even perform the ceremony, he just performed at the ceremony. When I got married, all I could afford was an Elvis impersonator. The Stooges have a new album coming out. Word is that Mike Watt is filling in on bass. I wonder if Iggy has a Blue Hawaiian package. Also present at the wedding was Tony Hawk, although I’m not sure if he performed anything. Still intertested in Bam’s wedding? He’s so classy he had it videotaped for another reality TV show on MTV. There are links after the jump.
Sometimes I miss film.
Yep. Digital is nice, but sometimes I miss the look film in a skate shot. The scanner hiccup is a nice touch though. There’s been too much Annoy and not enough Skate lately, so enjoy this picture of Brett Sells at the Newberg Oregon skate park, taken some time in 2002. He’s up there. Go ahead, enlarge it.
Skateboard business for sale – $1
Inventory, distribution opportunities, and sales far outweigh the cost of owning this skateboard business. My “regular” career is becoming too demanding, so I have to let go of my skate business…included in this sale: Inventory Contacts Skate Team Brand Distribution I have been in business for 4 years, strictly online retail and distribution…the retail skate/surf shops are untapped and a HUGE potential. My cost for the business is minimal in comparison to the potential. I just want to make sure this gets into the right hands of someone interested in the industry who wants to take this brand and run with it If you are interested, please let me know and I will give you the details Got to be a typo. The posters location is listed as Torrance. Check it out on Craigslist. Someone should follow through by feigning interest and let s know what the scoop is.
Britain’s worst skatepark?
Milton Keynes is pretty progressive when it comes to sports. Heck, they even have korfball facilities(?!). After achieving a high level of success with a street park built at the Central Bus Station, the city or village or town of Milton Keyes (UK) decided to build a bowl park, and apparently traveled back in time to the 70’s to do so. Then there’s the strange metal rods sticking up in the middle of the shallow. Bike racks? I don’t know. Must be street style. Seriously though, this is tragic. The bus station project was unique in that they added marble skate structures to an already popular skate spot that was not meant to be. That’s a great approach. Instead of cracking down on street skaters on public property, lets make the spot more attractive. It’s been done before, and I’m all for it. Feeling emboldened, they (Milton Keynes )… I’m at a loss for words to explain this. [Source: Crossfire]
