Zine mail from 1991. Judging from the transcript on the back, I might have crossed paths with Pete D. from Clueless zine shortly before he sent those pictures, although it’s just as likely it was unrelated correspondence as nonsensical stories and rampant silliness were a big part of zine culture those days. I made the acquaintance of Pete through Dan at Contort. It’s been a long time since I’ve added any new (old) zines to the gallery, I’ll see what I can do in the near future.
I have no idea who is in this sequence, or where it was shot. Somewhere in the Milwaukee area would be my guess.

This is so great to see all these years later.
While I don’t recall meeting you unexpectedly, I do remember where these shots were taken.. Well, sort of. Gregg Witt was running Good Times skateboards at that time. He was in the process of moving out to California from Winnona, MN. He paid me some ridiculously low wage (I was fine with it) to accompany him on a drive out to California from Minnesota. On the way, we spent a night in Yellowstone National Park, where we took a hit of acid. That experience alone was completely worth the trip. (no pun intended). Down the road a bit, somewhere in Utah, the engine exploded, and we found our way to a Greyhound station and bussed it to Los Angeles. Another experience for the books.. Yeah, so we finally made it to his apartment complex in Encinitas. Gregg had the ex Del Mar local Scottsmen, Graham and Mark on the team at that time. Pure enjoyment that bunch. They were busy getting ready scheming a booth for the Action Sports Trade Show all the while we ate boxed mac & cheese. The shot sequence was taken of a younger team rider somewhere in the Encinitas area. I left a few days after the trade show. It was an incredible trip filled with so many unexpected thrills and tragedies, but that’s par for course anytime skateboarding is involved.
