Sk8face has been kicking around the web for a long time. I became aware of it back in 2008. I had just sort of assumed the project had fizzled out, but they’ve been working on it steadily. Now they are turning to Kickstarter to fund post production. If you’re scratching your head, Sk8face is a video documentary on skateboard graphics. The list of interviews is impressive. They’ve posted something like 35 micro excerpts on the Sk8face web site as well, including one with our Smithsonian friend Betsy Gordon.

Couldn’t agree more with what Matt wrote. I live and breathe this stuff for a living and I have NEVER seen any footage of VCJ speaking about his stuff. Never. Ever. So Matt has that going for him– the rare cast of characters. But he also elicits the rare insight as well, not the same old “before this became big business blah blah blah…” Take the time to view the micro trailers.

Just get the disposable bible VCj talks a lot more about his drug use and pissing off Powell..yes skate docs are beyond hackneyed, gators being the best w/ dogtown a close second but this was beyond topical borderline pointless. They do need to talk about graffix it was interesting just too fleeting

@Pigcity – I feel you about the talking heads and the same old story, however SK8FACE isn’t just the same old stories. When was the last time you saw Neil Blender or VCJ in a movie? Never!
I’ve been committed to getting the most iconic and hard to get guys in the film and its taken years to get them all. I think you will be stoked when this film is done, its got tons of shit thats never been captured on film.
