HOT LUNCH – first album
After two 7” records, the first album of San Francisco´s Hot Lunch was finally released. Germany´s Who Can You Trust? Records put out this vinyl only record.
You get nine songs, including “She wants more” from their first 7”, “Killer Smile” from the second 7” and a cover-version of “Knife Edge”, originally performed by Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
Hot Lunch do what they do best and play some tight 70´s prog and psych rock. Besides their typical heavy and ass-kickin´ prog rock tunes, you also get to know their calmer, more mystical and psychedelic side (esp. “Lady of the Lake”).
And then there´s the cover with the custom-made Hot Lunch skateboard, just created for the album artwork. The frontcover shows a detail of the brandnew board, the backcover has the complete board already used.
The LP was pressed only 500 times, so you better be fast.
OK I’ll be nicer this time because I was overly harsh the last time these guys were mentioned. It’s not my cup of tea but they do what they do really well and they are really good guys. So keep on keepin’ on!
They kill it live too….looking forward to getting my hands on this record.
I just found two live vids on youtube:
