Skate Out is a super 8 film circa 1978. It’s got everything: street, skateparks, downhill and freestyle.
I was 11 years old in 1978 and was skating a little and going to the parks with my friends. This is the first part of the a super-8 movie I made. These guys went on to form the foundation of Nor Cal skating but when this was shot, we were all just kids.
Good stuff, but parts of the soundtrack are NSFTD*.

In this part, we have some freestyle runs at the 1979 Berkeley skateboard contest. Jimmy Thronburg took 2nd in his class, Tony Guerrero took 2nd in his and my brother Ray took first in his. Steve Rocco who was up from So Cal took 1st in pro.
In this part we have vert wall skating at the 1979 Berkeley skateboard contest, footage from 1978-79 in Campbell and Milpitas skateparks along with some shots from SF streets. I’m thinking maybe I’ve got the earliest slams section titled “Beafers” here. Although, some of them were staged just for the hell of it.

I enjoyed this stuff, nice job. I can even live with the NSFTD soundtrack. The only thing I hate is the roller skater footage. Something about the way they skated with their feet pointing in different directions just completely offends my senses. No style whatsoever. But great, classic old stuff. Thanks for posting.
