  1. That’s a good one.

Kind of missing the point here, but I understand you took this opportunity to make another fine comic. BMX (racing) has been a constant sport for over 30 years here in Europe. At the same time -when I watched it- I started to doubt the relevancy of it being an olympic sport. Why BMX and not a dozen other ‘alternative’ sports?

Who’s complaining though; we usually suck but now our BMX-girl got bronze and our guy in windsurfing got the gold.
Dutch kids for 80’s sports, whoohoo!

Its a good thing because there is a better chance that they will leave skateboarding alone now. Subjectively judged sports like street/vert skating should never be added. Hill bombing on the other hand would be pretty awesome.

  4. I was talking about this with my brother recently and we came to the conclusion that it’s unlikely that skating will ever appear in the Olympics. How many of the world’s top pros would be excluded by drug screening? Loads, let’s be honest and what would be the point if you can’t showcase the worlds finest exponents of our culture?
Maybe slalom and downhill would work, but do enough countries participate? I think we’re safe.
What makes me laugh though, is over here in Britain, so much is being made about Team GBs success and yes we did well, with all sorts of Government funding and private sponsorship, we came third. Not bad. However, we have been producing world class skaters for decades, with no public funding or support, ( unless you count parks ) and yet they are never lauded like our mainstream athletes are now. I kinda like it that way.
