Skate and Annoy: Daily

Skateboard lockers

The Skateboard Locker story began in 1999 when , MG Creations was contacted by a high school nurse from California’s Central Valley. This nurse was looking for a solution to the daily pile of skateboards in her office. After a year of designing, MG Creations began the production and sales of the “Skateboard Locker.”

The idea of a skateboard locker in a structured environment like a school actually makes sense. Especially if you think of it from the standpoint of actually encouraging kids to skate to school instead of punishing them for doing it. These utilities are available over at (wait for it…) Skateboardlockers.com. It’s a fairly simple device, although it seems a little bit under-engineered. By that I mean that there is an awful lot of raw metal being used and wheelbases and width are limited. I’m sure the longboarders at high school are feeling neglected. Skateboard lockers have actually been installed in some California high schools. The devices aren’t being mass produced yet, you have to contact for a quote. According to the web site, the creator Mike Greenwald designs an build skateparks, for whom? It doesn’t say. One slightly amusing tidbit, check out the pictures in the gallery to see loads of prop chinese skateboards still in shrink wrap. Come one man, how hard would it be to actually round up some real boards?

this guy is one of the coolest most down to earth cats you would ever have the privilege to meet. All he is trying to do is provide safe keeping and security to ensure the history and modern day folklore of skateboarding story telling is safe. Providing an ideal place to keep your skateboards protected at school so you can ride them there and then back home is something very few are doing and when he started, none. So any negative feedback just makes you look envious and unfortunately super lame.

When I was in Highschool we had racks for skate boards. Much more accommodating in terms of wheelbases, though a bit under protected. Very few stolen boards that I recall though.

  • My son say’s their cool at least your wheels or trucks won’t get jacked.

(hardcore punk yell) but I’m not telling!

Looks like these are installed outdoors. What happens when it starts raining? You’re taking a math test and all you can think about is how your board is getting soaked. A better design would protect the board a little more.
