Skate and Annoy: Daily

It cuts both ways

Home foreclosures and mortgage woes mean lots of empty pools in some parts of the country, and it even affects people with built-for-skate facilities like the Barrio Bowl in Las Vegas, reportedly selling for 32k to appease the bank. This picture comes from Picasa user Eric, and minimal details are available on Concrete Disciples.

  • backyard crete can be cheap when the right people are in town…

  • is 18k for something like really reasonable?
i was thinking more, but if something like that can be had for less than 20, i may have to keep the dream alive.

    • The issue comes down to how much you get charged for labor and equipment usage. Concrete, pool block and rebar are relatively cheap by comparison.

  • ticorico

I’m guessing it’s not a swimmer if it was built for $18,000 and that makes it pretty useless for any potential buyer that does not skate or have some plans for the pool involving skateboarding. I feel sorry for the guy who lost it, looks like some good work.

  • Here’s the MLS info on it, http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/121-N-20th-St_Las-Vegas_NV_89101_M22398-14435

It will show the exact location. I like how they show photos of the pool but don’t actually mention it.

  • I haven’t been there myself, but from what I understand, it is most certainly NOT in a neighborhood one would use the word “decent” (in any form) to describe.
However I do not know this to be a fact. You can’t believe everything you hear these days. But you know….32,000…..draw your own conclusion….

James gave me a quote back in ’03. Hass’ number sounds right to me.

  • dammit, i just got back from vegas.
would have liked to have poached a few runs.

  • wow…private investors and a “party house” Really? Hopefully a skater who is looking for something in LV will be able to scoop this one up.

  • Seth Levy

Does anyone know if the house is in a semi-decent neighborhood? I could see the Maloofs making it happen for a party house…

  • That is a Team Pain built bowl. That thing probably cost twice as much as they are asking for the house. I hope a skater rescues the house/bowl.

    • 64k for a private bowl of that size at someone’s house is a ripoff. Try 18,000 at most.

      • I was using the term “probably” sarcastically…I don’t know the going rate for such a sick bowl. From the looks of the photos…the bowl is more valuable than the actual home.

  • nweyesk8

it’s absurd that that house is selling for 32k, I bet that same house in Corvallis/Portland would easily sell for closer to 200k, but then again , who the fuck wants to live in Las Vegas anyhow???
