  1. anybody heard of a device to protect my shoes from slideouts? I use Goop glue, but I heard there’s some kind of plastic cap, but I can’t find it online. I’m finally learning slide outs instead of running out and I ruined a pair of shoes in a week.

      1. Those are awesome! Yeah, the knee-slide is hard on shoes. I have seen guys who slather-on the shoe goo, I’ve had pretty good luck with the heavier brands of duct tape applied before the session. What a hassle. Best to not bail.

        1. Howdy MC!
Speaking of knee-sliding….you need new caps?

        2. My Burly Caps are in good shape, thanks. I’ll probably need some new pads this year though.

    1. I just throw on some good duct tape. Just keep a roll in your bag or car and slap on a new layer each time.

I’ve found that putting it on ‘toe to tongue’ not side to side works best.

I’m thinking I might just skip the shoes altogether and just wrap my feet up with big giant balls of duct tape.

no, what you’ve gotta do is get those plastic 1gallon milk bottles, cut em out in the shape on the top part and toe of your shoe, punch a few hole in em, then string your laces through em. did that make sense?

  2. Duck brand duct tape is your friend.

  3. Oh gawd, I can’t fathom not bailing right now. That friggin ramp is gargantuan. I can BS 50, but everything else is gonna take for-ev-er. I feel like I’m going back to infancy.

…Looking for a new pair of kneepads.Anybody know a good brand?

    1. I personally like the 187 Pro Knee pads combined with the gladiator slip ons.

    2. I saw a prototype of some pads called Pain Killers (no, not Pain Cheaters) that look pretty good. First time I’ve seen a new approach to pads since… foreever. The production models are due in a week or two, I will post when I can, they have asked me to wait until they are released.

I have some old 187’s , not to be confused with the Old 97’s…. They were from before they were made in China, and they are good. I haven’t tried the newer ones casue I bought several pair before and I try not to slide on my knees anymore.

using old TSG Force right now but:

    1)Paincheaters are the BEST!! http://www.paincheaters.com/
made in USA, Sorbothane inserts, worth the loot!
    2) Boneless, good luck finding them
    3) 187’s are good but you will need gaskets, can also be weird on side impacts

Shoe goo a piece of suede over the toes of your shoes. Leave a flap of that suede to lap over your fist couple of bottom laces, integrate the flap into the laces midway up. Trim it around the edges so it looks clean–even better if the color matches your shoes. You can go a few months with this fix until it wears out. When it does, replace it and keep your shoes until the soles wear out. No duct tape.

  7. I go the duct tape route but still have holes in all of my socks at the big toe. All great tips but where’s the vert ramp?

    1. I’m in North Dallas, skating the vert at Eisenberg’s park in plano. They recently painted it to look like the Powell Clown Ramp for a contest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGF5oHvST7E&feature=related .

      1. Eisenberg’s in Plano, TX painted their vert as homage to this Powell ramp.

  8. I make my own “lace savers” from scrap leather. (Find a leather repair shop near you, scraps are fairly cheap.) Yep, they look a bit kooky, but what do I care. My shoes last hella longer than anyone else’s. The better thing to do would be to stay on my board, but that has proven to be challenging…

My cousin works at Footlocker and once gave me a pair of modernized skate style Adidas shell toes that were so long lasting I had to throw em out more because of stench than being worn out.
Nice early 90’s set-up in the cartoon

    No pads = the best!

Butt sliding is the new knee slide.
