Skate and Annoy: Daily

eBay Watch: September 2010

September was one of those months that although some good stuff went off, it wasn’t as impressive as July or August, so consequently I found it more of a chore to compose. I would do a bit, leave it, planning to come back in an hour, but not touch it again for a week. Some months really flow and some are difficult. Let’s leave it at that. Next month might be even more up in the air because I am going to England for a couple of weeks mid-month, and I don’t plan on taking a laptop, so there’s a chance there won’t be an October BayWatch, and I’ll do a double in December. I haven’t decided yet. Maybe I’ll do a short one. As always, special thanks go out to Kilwag for putting this up on the web, and to Matthijs for his constant emails with links, ensuring nothing slips between the cracks. Somebody emailed me last month suggesting that I add a “Decks for Sale” section that people can contribute to. Maybe I will. I have a couple of decks for sale right now if anybody is interested. A teal stain G&S Steve Claar whales and silver dip Santa Cruz Soren Aaby. Both are NOS, out of shrink. I’m asking $125 shipped for either. Let me know if interested.

  • Good looking Jinx, but the best is below. Glad you finally had a Jinx in the mix.

  • I always liked the BBC graphics & would love to have a Jason Parkes on my wall.

  • Jason, don’t let the peripherals bug you. Collecting/critique-ing ABSOLUTELY is better than rollerblading or poking eyes with a stick, after all.

  • houseofneil

Thanks for writing in Jason. Yeah, the review is all about the graphics, so don’t take any of it personally. I’ve labelled BBC as having consistently the worst graphics of any major company ever, and unfortunately for you you got another BBC stinker.

The column is all about how much decks sell for on eBay, and I throw in some personal commentary on the graphics sometimes. I went overboard on yours because I’d never seen it before and it was yet another terrible BBC graphic.

It sounds like you’re ripping and having a great time, so that’s great. Thanks for taking the time to write in and contribute to the column.

  • Jason Parkes

‘I guess Jason Parkes must have been quite the caveman, because apparently he likes to drag women around by the hair and kill dinosaurs (?) with his big ass club.’

For the record, I had nothing to do with this graphic, my ideas were worse (see witch doctor graphic). I do however like to drag women by their hair and kill dinosaurs (better than killing people). I never had a big ass club and am pretty small so it doesn’t even fit to me. Some ‘artsy fartsy’ type ‘artist’ named Pizz did that graphic. I don’t give a shit about art, the only art that matters to me is skatepark art, i.e. making skateparks. To me, pictures are pretty gay and I prefer boards without them.

To the whole pro-skater thing; I never thought I was good enough to be pro other than perhaps skating curbs, which I love/loved and thought I was good at. But it was a choice presented to me; work a shitty job or be a pro skater so I think I made the right choice.

  • Those Cadillac Wheel posters are most likely repro’s. They sell them on their website. My bro got one last month.

  • The wheels on the Alva Leopard are Alva Naturals and made especially for those hubcaps), (very rare).

  • Inspired by the Hobie complete?
    http://www.ezroriginalz.com/wordpress/?p=368

Good website, blog is a good read too.

  • That Folmer is AMAZING. I loved all those 80’s Sims Pigs so much that I bought an NOS New Wave Concave years ago, and set it up as a Rider. Totally period correct, so with Sixtracks, ALL the plastic (rails, nose, tail, Tracker copers front and back) Sim’s B-52’s……..
And it weighed more than Saturn, had no discernible nose, concave OR kicktail, and it was totally unrideable
    :(((

  • Not sure I’ll cope if you miss October…Does anyone else feel the same way?

    • talentlessquitter

      Hehe,you said ‘Miss october’,
      is it friday already?

  • A

That Hobie look s beautiful. The Sears board is pretty sharp too.

  • talentlessquitter

I read it quicker than last month but another nice one ,Neil!

Never thought I’d spit out this dreadful sentence myself but here goes:
“There’s one on ebay right now” (nov.2nd), a Social Distortion Tub Tech.
Maybe it will (hint!) appear in the next Watch.

The Buck Smith is almost a bargain, the colors on that black is just beautiful.
Chocolate series is very nice;seen ’em before on ebay. One,well, six of those few collecables from the ’00’s

Great to see that flyer from Amsterdam.Remember PP used to have a warehouse there. The ‘Meervaart’ is a theatre/music stage/cultural centre.
Surely there must have been some dutch skaters present.Say the group that is 5 years older than me.Makes me wonder where they are now, they’re not here!
