Turf digging photos

Martin Defatte sent in some more pictures from the digging effort at the Turf. These were actually from late Wednesday, but I couldn’t get to processing them until now. Martin said the cops showed up that evening which put a damper on things, but the bright side is, there’s all kinds of positive publicity now, and what could have been just an epic session for a bunch of hard working guys may possibly evolve into a more permanent solution.

Please contact the wisco DOT, as they are currently in charge…
Here is the phone #: (608) 266-1114
Here is the email: Frank.Busalacchi@dot.wi.gov
Take 5 minutes and shoot them a friendly email, note the historical significance as well as the potential tourism dollars.

We need your help!

I may have left the Midwest for the land of amazing skateparks, it’s my home now with a capital “H” but right now my heart is in WIsconsin. Thanks again to Martin.

Yes this park was infamous in one of the Santa Cruz videos hmm lets see “Wheels of Fire” I wanna say Jason Jason picking up the mag losing his mind being a skate criminal with Skip Engblom as the Warden, Great part with Kendall,Grosso,Salba and the Meekester I think. Save the Turf for the history this park brings for skaters of all ages!

Sometimes you have to say things twice…

    Hello sir,

I’m writing to express my feelings about the news of the Turf skatepark being unearthed and I understand you have something to do with it.
This is a great opportunity for Wisconsin to do the right thing, namely, support this project and (re)create a safe, free, and rad skatepark.
If you aren’t already aware, skateboarding (and other forms of riding: bmx, blading, scooting) are mainstream activities. Some estimate there are 15 million skateboarders in the US alone. Any quality skatepark puts a location “on the map” for this demographic. A park with a story like Turf (provided it turns out the right way) has the potential to attract a significant amount of visits, especially the ones with money: professional teams.
Please do the right thing and work with the skaters to restore the Turf and (re)create something positive that will last for generations.
    thanks,
