Word, Mark. Battle Ground.
Always spilled powerade on the deck & a Cheeto’s bag or some shit in the bowl.
Not to mention bowl designs that good are scarce elsewhere in the states and every time I’m there it’s dominated by a line of kids competing for best flyout-of-the-shallow.
Used to love that park. Now can’t even wrap my head around wanting to put up with it.
Oh yes Battle Ground. Funny you are posting this, I stepped in a Strawberry Milkshake there just this morning. Filthiest park ever! Thinking of writing something and sending it off to the Reflector.
I usually get to Battleground pretty early, doesn’t seem so bad, but then again I go to East Vancouver a lot which is the king when it comes to garbage/shit/dead salmon/paint/etc.
The last two times I went there I couldn’t take it. There is no reason for 90% of the people there to be there. I’ll just do me five tricks on the good side of the columbia, thanks.
Battleground seems brand new though, when compared to the travesty that is the Vancouver park. I’ve never seen so much litter and trash in my life as at that park. Of course, what can one expect when the Red Bull truck comes through tossing energy drinks at 6 year olds (who then promptly toss the cans in the big bowl, cause hey, they aren’t skating it…
Totally true! Vancouver is a shit hole! Love that park though. Not quite as bad lately. Maybe it’s because they put in a fire house that’s within eyesite. Skate there before noon and you pretty much get the bowls to yourself! Can’t complain about that even if you do have to pick a couple of things out of the bowl.
When we were growing up, anytime we wanted to buy a skateboard, or more wood to build or change a ramp, our folks made us do it with our own money that we earned working actual jobs. They always said “if you earn something you will appreciate it more and take better care of it.” Also, whenever we were camping or picnicking, we were told to pick up the area before we left, and to always “leave a place cleaner than you found it”. I don’t think there’s much of that sort of training going on anymore. These days, when i clean up at the free, public skatepark (the kind of place we could only dream about), most kids just look at me like i’m crazy. Some say “thanks”. Once in a while, a kid will make my day with three words, “can i help?”.
Skated Battleground today from 9:30-noonish. Clean as a whistle, and almost completely free of little bastard children. I go there ALL THE TIME. Never looks too bad to me. Maybe you guys are just unlucky, or have bad timing. I rarely even need to sweep, and sometimes I hit that place 2 or 3 times a week…
Just until we chased them out. Ha! Ha! Usually once someone gets rolling that has at least a slight ability to flow with speed the annoying flyout kids scatter.
I to am frustated by the kids at the Vancouver park ,Went up last week and set up the Skateshop and walked around picked up two full bags of garbage . The parks claim the constant garbage is why they are holding out to build the addition onto that park if thats true it kinda sucks for everyone .
I was told that by a parks guy too. No addition because people fuck up the park too much. Too much paint, too much garbage, too expensive to maintain because of those things. KIDS ARE DUMB AND LAZY!!! Half the kids hanging out there aren’t even skating. They’re just lurking all day making a mess.
Sounds like the Santa Clarita skate park. I gave this kid some Ramen because he said he was hungry and I watched him throw the bag in the snake run. It pisses me the fuck off. Kids hang out there all the time too. Also, we need to get ripsticks out of skateparks.
I wonder what the story is with this? I remember hearing that during the cold war, kids were afraid that the world would be destroyed by nuclear war and didn’t really think they would have a future, All that duck and cover stuff I guess.
I wonder if the continual Orange Alerts and Office of Homeland Security crap are having the same effect on the current generation of kids, and who benefits from that?

“Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute!”
We saw some what looked like 10 to 12 year olds smoking crack there last week. Keep it classy Battle Ground!
I thought your had visited Port Angeles this weekend. Perhaps sticky-bowls are a Washington trademark?
Trash, spilled drinks, graffiti, and Fire.
Lower Woodland skatepark in Seattle received
some serious concrete damage due to a bonfire.
A large square had to be cut out an re-poured.

I can’t understand why a skatepark is considered
a garbage can to some.
Fish swim. Birds fly. The sky is blue. People SUCK.

But there were kids doing flyouts out of the shallow, though.

Teach your children well.
