Skate and Annoy: Daily

WWJS?

And it stands for “Who Would Jesus Scam?” I was trying to track down rumor that American Ramp Company (AKA ARC) registered the names of famous skatepark building companies with alternate domains and had them forwarded to americanrampcompany.com. Think grindline.net, dreamlandskateparks.net, newlineskateparks.net, spohnranch.net, californiaskateparks.net and sitedesigngroup.info. I tried these myself and they ended up parked at Goddady.com and their anonymous registration service, save for Californiaskateparks.net that forwards to something called Hardcore Skateparks, which turns out to be wholly owned by… ARC. I had a post planned on ARC a while back. The used to have an unintentionally funny video introducing their staff and making them look like… a playground equipment company. Why did I bring up Jesus? Well because ARC did. They gave him his own area on the ARC site. I’ve heard rumors that ARC has taken to lawsuits and litigious threats of over lost bids. Maybe it should be Who Would Jesus Sue? Hey, has anyone tried skating in the rain on one of their metal ramps? ARC says it’s a go.

400 grand on steel shit that got replaced by concrete – before the steel garbage even opened

  • Now this all makes sense. ARC is founded by Nathan Bemo. Around the mid ’90’s he had a very ghetto skatepark called Bemo’s. Wooden ramps slapped together in a filthy old building. Then Bemo’s was bought by another weirdo named Scott. He changed the name to BTB (better than Bemo’s). Again, the place was still a dump and possibly even more dangerous. They were rude, backstabbing people you commonly found ministering. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind religion, but they are into the whole cash cow of Big Box Churches. As a local, I’m so happy our city did not deal with these clowns.
ARC, Untitled Skateboards, the Bridge and any thing else associated with them is crap. Good luck with your careers Shawn Hale & Josiah Gatlyn.

    ‘American Ramp Company’?
    Funny:’ramp’ is dutch for ‘disaster’.

  • bob bitchin'

did you guys just figure this out? these clowns have been screwing towns & skaters for 10+ years now

  • Portsmouth Virginia is in danger of getting an ARC load of shit dropped on their town. Our buddy Chris Ringer sent us all the info. If you live in Virginia and are reading this, send an email to this guy…
Name: Mike Morris (Head of Portsmouth,VA Parks and Recreation)
    Office #: 757-393-8481 Ext. 4102
    E-mail: Morrism@PortsmouthVA.gov

  • Has ” grindline.net, dreamlandskateparks.net, newlineskateparks.net, spohnranch.net, californiaskateparks.net and sitedesigngroup.info” all been notified of said bullshit? I guarantee there’s a C&D case there…

  • i’ve skated a couple of their crappy parks in Illinois, one unpainted so the metal would burn you on hot summer days, the other painted by the city and not slick unless it was wet. The park designs were complete shit and they dont hold up like concrete.

    ARC sucks

  • There’s no way any of those dudes skate. Look at the generic office space. Looks more like an insurance company.

  • they purchased the company that did Louisville and now they claim it… lame.

  • Prickly Pete

That Jesus shit is some token shout out to da Lawd so they can entice these arena rock churches into getting a skatepark. We had one in Montana where everything was under one roof. No kidding, they had a General Lee replica parked adjacent to the altar.

ARC is obvious crap; they were on the horn with our city on a weekly basis trying to talk them into going pre-fab. Thank Jesus (that he is not on ARC’s side) our 60-something Parks Sup. has kids in Portland and was amped to get DL to build our park.

Can’t Pepsi sue ARC for logo infringement?

I hate steel half pipes, and the people that order them.
Makes me think of that highly dangerous all-steel piece of crap that used to stand in Amsterdam for years. It looked like a piece of art and no skater would use it (not that much vert riders over here anyway). The vert part was too big and had a little ‘kick-over’,over-vert,that is.
My hometown has another unemployed steel half pipe;the coping sticks out over the edge.Again,unridable.
So this company’s name is AAAARGGH,right?

  • tobysa13

they suck. big piece of shit.please tell all.

  • cold ones

Usually, I would make some sarcastic remark or non sequitur, but, wow, what a load of horse shit.

  • These parks are so shitty. They sent plans for a local park of ours with a handrail landing right into a grind box. WTF. We lucked out when the city listened to our pleas for team pain and hired them.

  • ticorico

Strategic prophet placement designed to maximize profit

  • I think they just converted me to pre-fab and Christianity.

“Who’s Jesus and why should I care? You should care because you’re a screw-up. Please don’t take it the wrong way; it’s not just you. You see we’re all screw-ups. This includes you, me, our friends, our parents, teachers, preachers and the pope! So what does that mean? That means no matter how bad your life is, you can be sure that eternity will be worse.”

  • Funny you say that about 2 weeks ago I tried to skate their new park in Elgin, IL as it started to rain. I nearly killed myself. These shit parks are cropping up all over the area, it’s awful and hazardous for kids.

Yet they’re convenient since it’s right down the street. It’s a double edged sword.

“Who’s Jesus and why should I care? You should care because you’re a screw-up.”
Somebody figure out a way to get revenge/fuck up these guys
