  • My favorite slappy curb isn’t on my route to work anymore 🙁

  • slappy grinds, wallrides. that’s street skating, too. no ollies involved.

  • skating a buttery knee high ledge/bench is just as much fun to me as riding a nice bowl. i relearned 360 flips last summer after not doing them since the mid 90’s, street skating is rad and i still do it at 33, i just stopped with the rails and stairs, flatground is still hella fun. street skating is so accessible, thats why i like it, theres something about leaving my front porch and pushing to the waxed up ledge 4 blocks away that gets me stoked

  • I skate to work regularly when it’s not winter here, which works out to about half the year. Push, push, push, coast… lather rinse and repeat. Sometimes when I’m certain no one’s watching, I’ll pop a couple crappy ollies. I promised myself I’d learn kickflips by the time I’m 50. I lie to myself all the time.

  • My idea of street skating was always riding down to the market to buy some beer. Now days my board never even touches the street, only pools and skateparks. We used to do freestyle,(excuse me, flatland), back when it was mandatory for contests, so I might have a chance of learning something new. My New Years resolution is to learn nose wheelies, (excuse me, Manuals), and nollies.

  • yeah. i had to remind myself to go street skate after moving back to oregon. i mean, it’s pretty easy not to when there are so many skate parks. but once you do, you remember how fun it is. you never know what you’re gonna get into. a curb, a hill bomb, some shitty bank, a marble ledge, etc. hitting some natural terrain will always be as fun as any park. it’s not where your at but what your doing.

Every year I make a resolution to get back into street skating, and every year I break that vow. This year I’m going to do it! If I could do it in the past I can do it again! It’s so funny that I can pop a little air out of some vert, but It makes me nervous to pop up on a small ledge. I’m sick of it! I will skate at least a little street at every session. I better do it at the end of the session though just in case I ruin myself.

  • I’m starting to be able to land my ollies more often than not(only took 20some years), and I can usually clear a curb and land on a sidewalk these days, but it’s usually when I was *attempting* to ollie-to axle on the curb, so it’s a total kook landing.

  • I’m still learning to ollie.

  • Now days I get nervous when I ollie up a curb.

  • The old bones don’t hold up so well on street terrain. The only dude that I know that is still doing reasonably well on ledges, small gaps and stair sets is Ron Allen.

Smooth transitions are indeed the wheelchairs for 80s skaters.

  • Do they have a street masters division? Natas, Gonz, Guerrero

  • We should have a 40+ Street Contest……….

    Those curbs look fun.
