We Care a Lot!

I’ll take the Chuck Mosley incarnation of Faith No More over Mike Patton any day. According to Wikipedia, the original lead singer was actually Courtney Love! Who knew? I saw Mosley fronting Faith No More at the Metro in Chicago. At the time there were rumors floating around that he had narcolepsy or something, and maybe that was why he was sacked from the band. Although there were also rumors of “substance abuse,” and I suppose a good heroin fix nodding off might have the appearance of narcolepsy to someone very naive. In any case, Chuck did not fall asleep at that show, and Mike Patton is for the birds. Introduce Yourself was a Slash records release, what a cool label that was. Every punk in my high school had a copy of that Slash Records: The Early Sessions compilation on cassette tape. I’m pretty sure I’ve told this story already. I’m turning into one of those doddering old fools/punk. Let me bore you with tales from my youth. I was the best poser out there. I guess they were back in business for a while., but I can’t find them anywhere now.

The video for We Care a Lot has a couple split second shots of skateboarding in it. I remember being very frustrated by this when it was current. I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t include more. What a tease.

Who is the stunt rider? Nice product placement for Thrasher.

  1. Loved this video, hated poisons “talk dirty to me” but it did have John Grigley at the beginning? and the inxs “devil inside” were my skate videos at the time. Finally when Suicidal Tendencies came out with…….can’t think of the song…..the video had that killer house party with the drained pool Eric Dressen and Caballero..i broke out the vhs and recorded all 4 videos and made my first skate video. I still get that sense of nostalgia anytime i hear those songs.

  2. fuck you! ill skate to the beach!

  3. remember rem’s vid for “end of the world (as we know it)”? there was a kid doing streetplants…

My friends and I played this album ALOT when we were in school. (Or not in school!) Can’t even hear it without thinking of those days.

That’s why her one Hole song went I was punk, now I’m just stupid…. But I think I would have rather seen Belinda Carlisle as one of the Germs… but that only lasted two days. Then of course there was Debbie Gibson pepping up the ol’ Circle Jerks for one song.

Though I do like most of Hole’s hit songs… so maybe I’d find her version of Faith No More more interesting. Have any of y’all heard any kind of recording of that version?

didn’t “Surf or die” by the Surf MCs also have some skating in it? I think so and that was from 1986ish too.

lets look at patton vs mosely’s post FNM output for just a moment….

    wrongity wrongity wrong you are.

    1. I haven’t heard Mosley’s post FNM releases. I’ve heard a little of Patton’s, Just enough to know I didn’t want to hear any more.

We know not much; turns out JOE POP-O-PIE (of “Truckin” fame) was Faith No More’s original lead singer, not Courtney.

  14. pop-o-pies were the best!
I’ve been looking for these songs for a while.
Truckin, The Catholics are Attacking and Fascists Eat Doughnuts.
