Sounds about like what I saw when the Battle Ground skatepark was being built.
I wasn’t skating at the time, but I went out to find things to take pictures of, and was driving by the Fairgrounds, saw a fence and signs of construction, and literally said “No FUCKING WAY! A skatepark? HERE?” and though “but, cows don’t skate…”
But I parked, and went to take pictures…and kids had already knocked down the fence and were skating…

“Damn! If I still skated, this park would be AWESOME!”
…and now I skate almost daily, but rarely use parks.
Funny how things change.
I’m just too self conscious..streets are more familiar.
(also mongo)
I love how some skaters were “admonished” while others were told to “go away.”
I’m sure it’s just a weird angle for that rendering, but the tranny looks super steep.
Caroll13 – Stick to the bowls and nobody will know you are mongo!
They are probably there kicking people out right now.
Hey, I live in Helena and the park opened on August 12. Where are these police reports from? There’s no Crane Street in Helena and the park is in Centennial Park. The things about the duck and belly ache man sound like Helena though. I wanted to send stuff in for a post, but can’t get the damn bowl to fit in one frame and haven’t taken the time to weave multiple photos together b/c I’m either skating it or changing diapers at home. Check out our website for some so-so photos and killer web design: http://www.helenaskatepark.com The Helena park is worth the trip if you’re from out of state.
That darn duck.
Prickly Pete, This is the St. Helena, CA park, not Helena, MT.I thought this park opened last week. I was hoping to hit it on my way back home from my OR/WA trip.
This town reminds me of Mayberry from the Andy Griifith show.
Opies stoked!
Uh, this park was constructed by Dreamland, not Grindline.
Dream Line. 🙂
Such a fun park! It’s well worth the admonishing you could recieve….
I originally thought this was about Helena, Montana which is a Dreamland skatepark but the police log is actually from St. Helena, California where a new Grindline skatepark is I thought, complete. You towns need to come up with more original names, like Wanker’s Corner or Boring.
grind line was cool & letting the local ride. then they left,
thrasher put out their video of the grindline guys ripping the park, so every one knew it was done.
it was a cool scene for a week or two then every one from out of town was barging the park & drinking & NOT skating and ruined it for the locals (like my self). so we all are now waiting for the city to finish the landscaping & the fence then it will be open.
but it is a rad park.
bk, no it IS a grind line park! i was talking the crew every day & it is on grindline’s web site too.
My bad. I misread the info and thought of the Helena, MT skatepark that was completed by Dreamland that is also sitting and waiting for a date to allow the skaters to enjoy the fruit of their crew’s labor.
Same situation, different location with similar names.
huh
We were just down in california and we wanted to go skate that place and spend our hard earned money in their local economy. Does wine and cheese go with frontside 50’s and smith grinds.
is it open yet….9/16/09?
anybody?
