eBay Watch: May 2009
Something odd happened this month. I was sorting through the images of the decks, putting them in categories, when I noticed something odd: I didn’t have any 90s decks. That has never happened before, and I could have gone back through and looked for 90s decks, but that would have been forcing it. I normally go with whatever catches my eye, and either there were no interesting (to me) 90s decks this month, or there were some but the pictures just sucked so I didn’t consider them. That happens a lot actually. A blurry, postage stamp sized image of the deck on a crappy background. If I can’t see the deck, then you can’t see the deck, and I’m basically describing it blind. The best ones are where they actually put a huge blow up of the deck in the auction. That is the image I grab, scaling it down for the main display, but if you click on it you see it full sized. You all knew that, right? That if you click on the deck image you see it the size it was originally displayed. So, no 90s section this month, but there’s a very long 80s section so that will have to do.
This is probably an old legacy Ebay Watch blog post. Some of the links may be broken or missing.

i think i’d rather have that Hosoi bootleg than the original. That thing is kick ass.
I have the La’s album. It’s lo-fi and enjoyable. I didn’t know the back story, I figured they didn’t make it big after one record and got dropped.
That’s the second Surfa Sam you’ve featured. Those are cool. The Malba board (yellow and black) is kind of a generic graphic but I really like it.
Those Epic boards are fascinating to me, and I have to agree with JKP on the Hosoi “tribute” deck. I’d rather own that than the original. Wasn’t that graphic used for an OJ’s Rockets wheels sticker too?
That Claar board sold for the right price. Same thing with that Grigley penis nose graphic.
re: the hosoi bootleg.
that’s not a rocket air.
no it’s not, but that’s what the original Hosoi deck is known as, so that’s what I’m calling it. Much as the Jessee “sungod” isn’t really a sungod or the Hawk chicken skull isn’t really a chicken skull.
I didn’t look at it closely.
There is a Hosoi rocket air graphic too. did they only use that on the wheels?
didn’t they stop doing the rocket logo because of the NBA team…?

Here’s a link
it is a bootleg. Check out the top side of the deck. Definitely not a Vision. Thanks Alan.
I tried to ask the seller for a better shot of that bootleg, but you have to have a verified address to ask the seller a question, kind of hard to do, since I had to chose a fake address in New Zealand just to get a login. Ridiculous.
New Zealand readers! Can someone contact this guy for a better picture of a the Pyscho Stick bootleg?
Here’s the link
Consider it done!
