Tony Hawk Ride

Tony Hawk Ride

There had been rumors a year or so back that the next Tony Hawk game was being developed with a prosthetic skateboard device a la Guitar Hero, but it’s finally been confirmed. The game trailer is up on the official site – THRide.com, after the game’s official name, Tony Hawk Ride. There aren’t any details on pricing, or anything else, really. Game Trailers TV has has the, uh, game trailer and a super short interview with Tony and the new developer, but the trouble is it’s split into two chapters with some unrelated stuff in between. Chapter one is where you watch Tony sidestep the popularity of the competitor “Skate.” Chapter three is where you watch the developer sidestep the popularity of Skate. Whatever, unless they kooked the game play completely, this thing has the makings of being a huge, huge hit. The board senses motion, whether or not you have a hand over it, etc… It’s free standing and not connected to anything. Pop a wheelie or a 180 and it’s reflected on screen. I’m just wondering what the aftermarket options will be for peripheral add-ons, like, say, trucks and wheels? Oh wait… The game comes out June 2, 2009. Video and a still of the board after the jump. I’ll bet this things sells like circular platters of a doughy substance heated on a flat surface.

  1. I bet your right.I go to a lot of peoples houses for work and I see little plastic guitars and drumsets everywhere.this thing will blow up

  2. Ungh. I like video games, but the tiny plastic guitars and drums are more than a little embarrassing. A plastic skateboard? Maybe if it is like, really, really raining.

  3. Plastic guitars emabarrassing? Maybe so, but they are fun. So, what is the most important..having fun or looking stupid in the privacy of your home? Give me fun anytime! Not to sure if I would get this plastic board though…

SkateIt on the Wii uses the wii fit controller. It’s alright, but it doesn’t make much sense to me when doing 180s and spins. Tony Hawk games are lame now. He lost his video game credibility after releasing some really lame games.

  5. I think ‘virtual’ activities are kinda lame myself.I was more or less commenting on the fact that it will probably be big because of people’s love of fake guitar playing, skateboarding ect..
