eBay Watch - March 2009

eBay Watch: March 2009

March 2009. OK ok, I know I’m weeks late with this. Shit, I could be doing the April one! But hey stuff happens; sometimes you just don’t feel like sitting down in front of a computer for 6 hours on a weekend. I had contemplated not doing this anymore, but I do enjoy it, and it seems from some of the comments I’ve gotten, you guys like it too. Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement, by the way. I’m always open to complements and to bribes too if need be, so send your old decks along! And I know that you all want me to make these longer, but realistically I have to shorten them. They started off with about 15 decks, but every month they get longer and longer. This month is the longest yet, clocking in at 62 items and over 5,600 words. These are starting to feel like college term papers! So I might settle on about 40 items in the future. That should allow them to come out in a more timely fashion too.

  • I have a Santa Monica Airlines Rocco Division deck, original Tracker Trucks with Swiss bearings on Santa Cruz Slime Balls wheels ALL ORIGINAL that I had put together when I was 19 at Hawaiian Island Creations in Honolulu in 1988.

Do you have ANY idea what she’s worth?

  • about those ATM “nerdhouse” decks…back around that time I used to sell alot of skate product outa my house in San Jose, I had heard that Birdhouse had #1 board sales at the time because their graphics were aimed at kids around 8-13 years old, kids at that age had the highest purchasing percentage of new skateboards, so Fallahee or someone at ATM came up with the idea to copy the Birdhouse graphics to mock them…I also heard they got “cease and desist” letters for doing those graphics..

  • yes. it had absolutely NOTHING to do with the beer of the same name.

  • Im glad I found this site, because this is the only page I have found any info regarding my Lucero Board.

here is the link to my Ebay setup with this board.
It actually glows in the black light. is that how black label came to their name…?

  • Go go go go go on, Neil !

  • as usual, another awesome read. i have never failed to read this…

    thank you very much neil!

  • Fredvintage

I’m one of your French reader and just wanted to say : MERCI Neil

  • owen williams

  • Hey Neil,

Go ahead contemplating to quit this column… Just don’t do it! Baywatch is always a treat i look forward to each month and almost check by daily waiting for the news, so please keep it up!

    Greetings from Germany,
    Rainer

  • I was the prior owner of that Lucero X1 before this guy, I’d taken the OG Black Trackers and Orange Slimeballs it had off, and sold it as just the deck and plastics.

What’s interesting is that it *had* pink Ugly Stix, to which I’d added the Pink Nosebone (it was already drilled, it just never had the nose or tail bones attached). So, this guy had to find new Black Ugly Stix to replace the original Pink Ugly Stix, and would rather face screw holes than a pink Nose Bone.

I guess it became too much to bear….

    …and it’s slightly warped… 🙂

  • Love your ‘Baywatch’, always check to see if month is up! watching from down here in NZ. skating 87 – present day (once a week).Enjoy your personal insights into history on decks from the eighties. Thanks.

  • endzone_bob

Amen – keep it up, Neil! This is regularly one of the most-rewarding features on the site.

    Bang up job!

  • i always look forward to these ebay roundups, scale back if you need to, but don’t stop! the cheap shot humor is the best too

  • Righteous Neil. I’m still reading but I will say that those Mondo-brushed Alvas always did it for me, they just remind me of the hardcore days. Does anyone else remember that those Alvas, as well as the Dogtown Stonefish, Suicidal, etc., had totally bunk wood though? Or was it just a cheap run that made it to my local bike shop?

  • Benjamin

Awesome work Neil. Always some sweet finds. Too bad for special people who have nothing better to do than bring a negative stoke. Don’t let the douches bring you down.

  • Just want to throw in that I love baywatch – So I suppose thats another vote of confidence so you’ll keep up the good work!

  • Ah, the Bonzai aluminum board was basically a knife with wheels. Used to run like hell when my friend would lose control of it and it was heading towards me.

  • Thanks for getting this out again Neil. The work that goes into it is definitely appreciated here.
Perhaps the readers could send you in their bargins or buys to light’n the workload a bit?

  • buttpyrate is an ass kisser.
    Pucker up turd burglar.

  • I had a Sam Cunningham just like that deck, and when I say “Just like that deck”, regrettably had pink rails and tailbone on it. The 80’s were a difficult and gender confused time. Lets bury it.

  • thanks for getting back up on ebay watch neil.
we all appreciate it a lot man!

  • I heard the Suicidal Skates board is about to be reissued, anybody know anything about that?

  • Almost forgot, slob-air eats big floppy donkey dicks.

  • The string is over. Had like seven entries in a row. No love for the Stonedge coping.
The Buy Now on the Suicidal wasn’t because of the huge over inflated dummy Buy Now. Which by all means was stupid. But I can appreciate stupid as long as it’s funny. Even at my expense. But that wasn’t funny and the seller is a dummy. It was because I made an offer, seeing as no one else had, and dude told me to suck his dick. So I hit the Buy Now. Too good to pass up. Like you wouldn’t.
The check is in the mail dummy.
Send me the deck dillinger… ya rat bastard.

  • i’m glad to see that you still have the fire to do baywatch. i am an old broken down skater from the 80’s to early 90’s and your article keeps my mind young and reliving the glory days of quarter pipes and launch ramps. thanks for all the great info and photos that remind me how cool it was to grow up when it all was really happening.

  • nweyesk8

i stream my net flix movie via my xbox. I can’t upgrade my cracked copy of windows to stream them directly to my pc.

  • Thanks Neil!!!
    Always a good read!

  • I loved those light blue RS/Cs. They were not the same as the Haut boards (Street Skates), but were super thin and light. They unfortunately would break easily.
The later dark blue and red colored RS/Cs were thicker and heavier. I guess NHS got tired of hearing about broken boards.

  • A

I wonder if that Skate Zombie deck has any CONCAVE??
