Coos Bay, OR skatepark opens May 22.
According to The World, Mingus Park skate park in Coos Bay will have it’s official ribbon cutting ceremony on May 22. Until then it’s going to remain fenced off. I don’t know why, but this sentence cracks me up:
After consulting with its insurance company, the city’s decided that it’s OK for people to use roller blades and skates, though bikes and scooters are still banned.
As if they were going to build it and then decide that nobody could use it. Pictures courtesy of Concrete Warefare on MySpace. There are some construction pictures here on SnA and some more recent photos on EPM.
– Thanks to Tristen Reasor for the tip.
Who will be the first over the capsule…..

Kilwag,
Thanks for posting this. I can’t wait for this park to open. The whole process of getting this park done has been a headache from the get go. The city aka “Chuck Freeman” really didn’t want this here. I would Like to thank Jason, Zach, Lori & Chris Reasor for building this amazing Park.
i was down there the other day and it still lokked like half of it wasnt even done how are they going to be finished that quick or are they going to still work on it after it opens
Yeah Jason! That thing is sick. Hope to skate down there soon.
theres a video on you tube of some guy bargin the CB park
Yep that kid didn’t even volunteer on the park. The city was giving out $1200 trespassing ticket’s to anyone caught in the park. So I guess he got lucky.
what about the credit for all the volunteers that helped out since day 1.
I’ve had several out of towners in the shop lately just coming to coos bay, oregon to see and ride this
gnarly bowl that was made…so far all I’ve gotten was good reviews.. nice work to all that helped out building this park volunteers and paid workers….
the park is a good start, you are only half way there though. no roll in, no street. hopefully more to come
